This begs the question where are all the Matilda's is there any in private hands and in running order.

 

 

 

If you look at the list that Runflat has put a link to, the one belonging to Peter Ray, in NSW is in restored running order and has been taken by the Australian Army on several occasions, for commemerative events in Canberra, etc. Matt from Oberon in NSW has one that is taken out on runs to local shows as well.

It is a Matilda 2. All Matildas as we know them are Matilda 2s. The original Matilda was an entirely different beast and IIRC its sole armament was a turret MG. ISTR open tracks going all the way round on the outside like a Churchill but without mudguards.
