Sun compass and navigation

Thanks, interested to see how it measures against compass. not sure if it would work in Nth africa though. Still drawing blanks with the repro bagnold compass -desert raiders? wonder if they have one - also any manuals for their use and for astral navigation/ position finding

Great! Guesss it is since 66 years that a 'Bagnold type sun compass' was on Libyan soil. Fine piece of work.

 

My only problem is that I will now have to reove the roof of my Landrover to have the sun compass propperly working....

Don't think you have mentioned the Cole sun compass yet. As that one was developed in Egypt for use in N. Africa by the British Army, early in the war it is another contender. I bought a new one in its case a few years ago, they do still turn up.
