Rlangham
Not any old advert! Longest advert shown on UK television apparently, first showing during Coronation Street tonight, and on http://www.hovisbakery.co.uk/our-ads/ from 8.45pm onwards. Also due to get a 90 second cinema release. Here's a sneak preview; http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/video/2008/sep/08/advertising1 Why am I excited about it? The fact i'm one of 200 WW1 Tommy's in one scene! Just look for the one in khaki

Jack
Fine advert - just seen it during Battle 360. Churchills speech - sends shivers down my spine.
martylee
This commercial for bread sure beats a lot of new movies I've seen... :-( I'm not sure that is a good thing! And now I know what bread to buy in England! Marty
Tony B
This commercial for bread sure beats a lot of new movies I've seen... :-(I'm not sure that is a good thing! And now I know what bread to buy in England! Marty Movies are there for an hour and half, and they already have your money. Adverts are about fifteen to thirty seconds, and they WANT your money. There is always a lot more thought goes into an advert.. http://www.tellyads.com/vintage_index.php
Rlangham
Here's some photos from the filming, I presume it's okay to upload these now the advert has been shown - they're were taking using my camera phone so not up to my usual standard Blakey in khaki! Tony B
A proffesional film maker told me years ago, adverts are much better than programmes. So why complain a whole new intrest in life. Some of the Hamlet cigar ads are hilarious. :-D
Snapper
Another Ridley Scott masterpiece. There is correspondence about the ad in this month's Stand To! We saw it at the cinema on Saturday when we took the kids to see The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. They'd read the book, so the film was essential. The advert was stunning. The film was a kick in the cods. But my wife and kids say the book is much more subtle. I'd like to see one of these clever directors move away from WWII and give us a decent Great War film to honour the heroes of that time. AlienFTM
just seen the ad, looks good esp the spitfire!! Was it me or did the Spitfire lurch sideways when whoever put the film together realised the right wingtip was going to hit the wall? LeeEnfield
Saw ad for 1st time last night,.............wow, now the folks who thought that one up, and got it onto TV deserve an award. Where was it filmed, Rlangham ?? (great pic,s by the way. ) Andy
Rlangham
It was filmed in Liverpool, not far from the city centre - oddly enough, in the block of flats i've moved into, there's someone here who was watching the WW1 segment being filmed with her dad! Phil P
Brilliant ad, 'er indoors raves about it.(sad) I think that an advert for Johnsons Polish in the 70's (?) was longer. Remember it? "Johnson's are the polishes for furniture and floors, there're so easy ...shine so easy etc." The Hovis ad is far better quality there's more thought gone in to it. Rlangham are you carrying a rifle as well as being in khaki?, if so I spotted you on freeze frame.
