Enigma Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Where we live the 30 Royal Marines did a action in april 1945. They were supposed to meet the Princess Irene Brigade in nearby Hedel. They didn't meet and the entire operation was stopped (too long story for this tread). Some died, some were taken prisoner and 1 Missing in Action. The missing in action Marine is Ernest William Cooper. My brother asked me to put a request on this forum if anyone can make photo's of the memorial and specific name of the soldier on it. Here a link to the CWGC page with the info of the soldier. http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2466244 Thanks Quote

Mark, Click on to Enigma's link, which is the CWGC site, at the bottom of the webpage, click on "CHATHAM NAVAL MEMORIAL", this gives you precise directions to its location. Richard Quote

Snapper Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Damn! My battlefields colleague was only up there last Saturday. The monument stands above Chatham, not in the town. Mark, I hope you behaved yourself. Quote
Enigma Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Hi Guys Thanks for your replys. Its a bit of paying our respects through a forummember because we can't go there. We could download the photo of the monument itself but if one of you takes a photo and send it its more personal. Do I make sense? There is no real hurry. Quote
cripp Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I practically pass that on my way to work a couple of times a week. I'm just a few miles away and would be happy to get some pictures if needed. Quote
