67burwood
How’s everyone’s prep going for the tour and has anyone had any updates regarding conformation of ferry times from Dover?
Scammell4199
Just about there on my prep, just got to load everything up. still trying to find someone to share my low loader up to harwich. bit concerned not had ferry details for harwich yet. Last email said that people going from Newcastle and hull had theirs and harwich would be coming last week. I’m still working on the assumption that there will be low loaders to pick the vehicles up on the other side and coaches for the crews, is that everyone else’s understanding? 67burwood
Hopefully Low loaders and coach’s are booked for the other side. As you said it’s a bit concerning that there’s been no confirmation yet for ferry’s from Dover or Harwich, 🤞some news this week.
Scammell4199
Got my ferry details now 😀. Question for people who have been before or who know - is there somewhere within the port we can park low loaders to unload? Yes, low loaders and coaches are booked the other side, i checked. Thanks Edited August 28 by Scammell4199

Scammell4199
Getting close now folks! Does anyone know what the score is regarding parking vehicle overnight at Harwich in readiness for the Tuesday morning ferry? I'm guessing vehicles are going to be arriving throughout the Monday and were all going to want to park somewhere secure. We've booked into the Premier Inn for the night and for your information you can also park your car at the Premier Inn while were away for about £45 through Your Parking Space. Safe travels. DFC1943Fl.Lt.
Hi all, looking forward to the 30corps trip. I booked the ticket to the dance and the 6 breakfasts through the link from the Liberation Task Force email about 2 weeks ago but have had no confirmation email to say it's been booked. Has anyone had a similar problem or don't they send confirmation. Steve.

Niels v
It was a very impressive Convoy and I am glad that I used the opportunity to drive down for the weekend to see it and meet so many people
Enigma
We were at attention for Roll Call on the North side of the Waal at Nijmegen. I heard and saw the tanks, halftracks, trucks and more rumbling over the bridge. Well done to all.
67burwood
Unfortunately my trip wasn’t very successful, for reasons unknown to me the low loader driver in Dunkirk insisted I reverse the WOT6 up steep rams onto his trailer, this didn’t agree with my WOT6 as it struggled several times before snapping the rear diff pinion, with no other options available we limped back onto the next return ferry with the rear diff tearing itself to pieces, limped off at Dover and called for recovery, a lot of planning and money wasted not to mention feeling absolutely gutted to miss the tour.

What terribly bad luck. You have a lovely vehicle there and it would have been a great addition to the convoy. I hope you are able to get it fixed easily, and without too much additional expense. Console yourself, though, that it was entirely realistic and, I am sure happened a lot on amphibious operations in WWII: a similar thing happened to me deploying to Ulster in 1977: my Lightweight, covered with GRP and towing a laden trailer, broke a halfshaft attempting the ramp of an LSL. Took trailer off and it limped up the ramp - just. It had been first on - those following then chose 4WD and low ratio achieving embarkation with no problem. Tide came, LSL sailed - my trailer forgotten on the dock in Liverpool... with ALL my belongings bar a small bag!
mash
A few breakdowns in E sqn during the tour too, luckily we managed to get everything back up and running. @67burwood hopefully pulling those half shafts helped minimise the damage, all the Guernsey contingent was gutted for you when we heard the news. 2
Rootes75
That's really sad new Seamus, terribly bad luck. I've just been chatting with my friend who went on the trip and he was telling me about his vehicles being unloaded off the low loader without him even being present which he wasn't too happy about.
