Not that silly. there are some of Warner Brothers Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons with a definite propaganda content. So to sum up 80+ tons of Tiger is bearing down at high speed, you will sit there aiming carefully allowing lead etc till it 300 feet away. You then fire, at this point the Recoil Reducer means that only your teeth will be rattled and your shoulder dislocated, now pick up 36lb of rifle and 2lb 7 ozs of magazine and run like hell. Yeah OK, no wonder it went obsolete very quick. Mind you it was probably one of the fore runners of the Anti material rifles. Anti tank rifles were first devised in the Great War by the German's using an up charged Mauser 7.92 cartridge as an answer to British Tanks.

beckingham ranges has a 1000 yard range that is suitable for 50cals which is a possible use, but theres a place in scotland that has a 3000yard range and i think you can get in on class one because the rounds would be classed as self loaders, but that is only a thought

No Jonathan, current legislation is no self loading rifle 'wrongly called automatic, correctly semi automatic, over .22LR. The Boys is a bolt action, it does not self load when the trigger is pulled. The fact it has a magazine is irrelevant. Shotguns are diffrent, if the brain serves no more than 3 shots including one in breech or it becomes Class 1.

no you dont get my drift self loaders as in load your own ammo not semi-auto or self loading weapons

Where would you get the cases?rouble is with our current'guidelines', they'd give you the gun but not the ammo. after the pistol farce, I could hold 10,000 rounds of .357 but nothinf to fire them from. :dunno:

Have you ever seen the effect of a 15mm sabot shell at 1,0000 meters on a soft skin? Never found the projectile that just carried on going. The entire concept behind these is 'man portable', 20kg empty, Steyr who make it call it a Flechette round. The thing is about 6 foot long and is smoothbore. muzzle velocity is about 1,500mps. The round is supposed to be able to penetrate 40mm of RHA at 800 m. Never did see on armour. The kick isn't to bad about the same as 12 bore magnum. Britain trailed them but went for the Barret as cheaper, and easier to keep resupply with the ammunition. 50 cal comes in a variety of load including green spot.

In that vein - I watched a prog. on one of the Discovery channels today about ballistics - and the bullet. A firm in Australia has developed a weapon capable of firing upto 1 Million rounds per minute. Looks a bit like the old Katyushka launcher in that it comprises a hell of a lot of barrels - one they showed was a "little one" of 10 barrels across by 15 deep and the rounds are stacked about 10 deep in each barrel. Each round is fired electronically/electrically and the weapon can fire single shot, patterned bursts or simultaneous dicharge of all rounds. Right now it's primarliy a perimeter defense weapon but they are also developing a smart bullet that can be used to take out incoming bullets..... Sounds weird and really you had to see it to believe it!!!!
