fv1609
See my point! :computerterror: Jack perhaps you should use a pseudonym for asking serious questions. Then there wouldn't be so much frivolity. But if you did want to have a laff & frivolty come on as yourself ;-)
79x100
Jack, I think that you have a problem with tarmac because any solvent cleaner is going to soften the surface as well. Presumably it is the oiliness that you're worried about rather than a colour change (unless you've got red or green or something ?) I think you're therefore restricted to the dry absorbent medium method. At the risk of sounding flippant, was this a one-off spill or is it a regular occurrence ? in that case it would be a good idea to stop the leak first. No point in doing what the Dutch call "mopping with the tap open" or we might refer to as "hissing against the wind" This is the place to ask paving questions :- http://www.pavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi Rich

Here is the full brief: Oil STAINS on the drive and bear in mind that there are 2 GMCs on/in the drive that there are plenty of stains - can sort the drips out but need the to get rid of the stains from brake oil, WD40, engine oil, diff oil and pretty much every oil that you can think of! Mrs Hardyferret
Park it on the Hardyferret's drive! Steady.................... actually I can sympathise with Jack here. He has two socking great GMCs and Mrs HMVF's car + whatever visitors drop in all parked on a stretch of tree shaded tarmac drive. Somebody must have a good proven cure for oil stained tarmac :dunno:

hardyferret
Jack sweetness, Why not have some dainty little pink Tupperware containers, placed strategically to catch oil. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes and packs of ten...... But possibly you may want more capacity? Being American? I have some 45 gall drums we could cut down. :dunno: Or some pieces of old plywood, takes ages to soak thru, and you just drive over it. :-D Yours helpfully Hardyferret :-D :-D :-D

Markheliops
Cure for oil stains on driveway. :? Well, I sent the girlfriend out complete with scrubbing brush and it came up a treat. :-D Failing that - Depends if the stains are fresh and wet or old and dry. If wet, anything works, saw dust, spillsorb, fullers earth, etc. If dry you can purchase specialist cleaners from most D.I.Y or motor factors. You have to put in down and leave it for a few hours, then wash it off. Can't remember the name of it but I used it many moons ago, when I was young and stupid. When I didn't know any better, I attempted an oil change on my Mk 1 Ford Escort on my Dads driveway. Acquired all the tools, etc to complete the job. Got under the car. Loosened the oil sump plug and caught the oil in a .................................... pint milk bottle. :schocked: Should have seen the panic in my face when the oil over flowed and didn't seem to be easing up. My Dad went bonkers and made me go up to the local shop where I purchased this cleaner. Worked a treat though. Markheliops
ArtistsRifles
My driveway solved the problem for me - wherever oil gets spilt , the tarmac just crumbles away!!!! :-o I reckon with the Landorover on it whats left might just last another year then I'll be back down to packed earth and two heavy concrete strips. :schocked:
