jenkinov
I have been offered a 17 pounder gun sight ..it has no leather protective storage case which I would have expected but is in reasonable condition ...Are these rare or common ...what is a reasonable price to pay.... Adrian Barrell
Are you sure it's for a 17pr? The No51 telescope sight was kept in a steel storage tube, later guns were modified to also take a standard No9 dial sight, these were kept in a leather case. If it's for a 17pr armed tank, it would likely be a No43. None of them are particularly rare.
ferretfixer
 There are a Myriad of this style of sight. All looking pretty much the same at first glance! Obviously, each different sight for each different type of weapon. Was a Different Nomenclature Mark. No.43, No:51 Etc, Etc. you get the idea?... They aren't only any use really, unless you are needing one for your tank armament, or field gun Etc!.... Or you find a rarity, a collector who actually collects this range of 'optic's'!..... I have seen MOST selling for £15 to £45 pounds. dependant on Known rarity. Most wartime examples Are actually common, & turn up at car boot fairs fairly frequently. I hope this guiding info MAY, be of some use to you? Edited October 3, 2017 by ferretfixer
