paulbrook
Every so often my local scrapman drops something of interest into my yard. Today's offering was this axle. Surprisingly chunky yet quite narrow. I wonder if anyone knows what it is (I don't by the way). More to the point is it of use to anyone?? Richard Farrant
Looks like it might be a Ford axle with torque tube, you can see where the stays have been cut off.
Nick Johns
1930's Ford model AA truck rear axle. Link to some pics of an AA showing the axle http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttalk&th=1084944 Edited May 26, 2015 by Nick Johns

Nick Johns
Would agree with Ford but could be 7V? A 7V axle was wider with dual wheels, larger hubs Edited May 26, 2015 by Nick Johns
Brooky
Second look and yes probably AA A side view of the wheel and hub cap would confim
paulbrook
I thought Ford too because of the torque tube. It is ever so narrow though - mind you even a VW golf is the width of a bus these days! Many thanks folks.
fordf30
Definitely looks similar to the WOT 2 axle in terms of design, i wonder what the diff ration is and if its interchangeable.
paulbrook
Well it's on Ebay if anyone is interested - with a start price that would have looked cheap in the 70's......
