0 Richard Farrant
It looks like a Douglas Taskmaster aircraft tug. Some were in service with the RAF.

0 Willyslancs
used to be a blue one at Stodday steam rally in the eighties
0 Richard Farrant
Early ones were built by Douglas then Sentinel built them.
0 wally dugan
RICHARD is correct Douglas made this model first then Sentinel took over both were powered by the ROLLS B80 there were slight differences between the two one been the metal plates at the top of the wings on the DOUGLAS were steel and had tool lockers built in to them on the SENTINEL these were made from aluminium and if you look you can see the oblong marked out but not used on the plate in the picture

0 Richard Farrant
Thanks Wally ! I can now see RAF blue/grey paint in the cab. The engine has obviously been changed probably by a civilian user. One turned up at Beltring several times. I have feeling it dates from mid to late Fifties. 0 radiomike7
Is it not a Sentinel Tugmaster?? The FV type dash gives it away as being ex RAF and probably used for towing the V bombers.
0 sharky
i like it as it is so ugly might see if they want to sell it
0 wally dugan
BARTS VANDERVEENS BOOK page 206 tractors wheeled miscellaneous types directory from 1945 clearly shows a sentinel in use with the RAF they were registration numbers in the A N SERIES
0 Gordon_M
I see the sling plates on the axle ends, but why the ground anchor on the back - was that fitted to the RAF ones, or did they have a civilian user as well like for recovery stuff ?
0 Brooky
Dont think the anchor was original Suspect that with the engine transplant (no longer RR but Leyland) it has been used as a timber tractor possibly
