ashley
Yes, we actually lived in Invicta Park (Jamacia terrace) 1965-1968 i was a young lad at the time left, when i was ten. Fantastic, mainly down by the river but i now understand the old camp by the river is now a housing estate :-( :-( got into hot water there once when i found what i thought was an abandoned goat tied up outside the rowing club ............only to have the M.P.s beating down the door to the house several weeks later looking for a "misplaced" regimental mascot :redfaced: Ashley
Mark
Yes it is a housing estate, the only barracks left is up the top of town by Ringlestone and the library, that is gradually being smallend with more housing as well.
paul connor
Still cant find what Regiments served with mine :-( spent most its time at 'hilton' and 'chertsey'

Richard Farrant
Still cant find what Regiments served with mine :-( spent most its time at 'hilton' and 'chertsey' Paul, Hilton was a Vehicle Storage Depot, and Chertsey would be FVRDE / MVEE / RARDE. They changed there title over the years, but were essentially the military vehicle research and development establishment. It could be that your Pig was the prototype for the Flying Pig attachments. Also possible, if you cannot find any trace of NI service, that it did not go there in this form. A number of Pigs were used at NI training bases in England and also may not have seen service over there. Richard
fv1609
Paul, if it was at Chertsey I think it likely that those rear doors were the subject of development there. In which case you should find a 4-digit FVRDE "wing number" either on the wing of the vehicle or on the radiator armour. The pig that was used for development of the protective screens was a Mk2 26 BK 30 with a wing number 8338. Now I hope you looked carefully at what you were stripping away before the re-decorating started?
paul connor
not fully stripped as yet, i shall look... where exactly? how big etc? Bring the pig to WP!!! mr HardyPig:) So mine may have never been to NI?

sirhc
Paul, Hilton was a vehicle depot not far from Derby. There's a new housing estate on it now. Chris
fv1609
I thought your pig was 30 BK 43. The history I have is rather different to above not least it being sold off on 29/11/67 for £50. Then recovered to CVD Hilton on 23/5/72. Can you confirm its reg no. The FVRDE no could be on the door, the wing, the armour above the wing or even the radiator armour.
