Jack Posted December 10, 2006 Share Posted December 10, 2006 Ok, so Jesse and I were at a losse end today as Oddball had bottled out on a road run so Jesse and decided to go and do what we used do - we went back to our roots. So we grabbed our kit, Hootchies, billhook, knife, paracord, billycans, Strikeforce firesteel, rucksacks, eggs, beans, bread, pepper, coffee, Titanium knifes and forks, and two dogs and one GMC. Then add a shed load of wind and rain...and headed of to the woods to do a bit of Ray Mears Bushcraft - Jess and I haven't done this since I moved into an office :cry: Iwould like to draw your attention to my pot hanger skills So here are some pictures of our outing - and believe me it was pouring down and blowing a gale. Well not really Joris - the laws of tresspass in this country are outrageous. I'd like to go to the Ardennes this winter with a survival vest, and some sleeping gear - no tent, just a shelter like in your pic. Offcourse it will get cold and maybe snow I'd like to stay 2 nights and 1 day or so just to see how to cope with it. Thing offcourse is to get 2 other guys to come along, not so many fools around. Jack Posted December 12, 2006 Author Share Posted December 12, 2006 Yes you are quite right, the FC do not like open fires but the strange thing is that our native English woodlands do not burn - they are broadleaves! You have a better chance of getting asbestos to burn :schocked: If you take into consideration the moisture content of our broadleaves then you will see why they are fire proof - Ash being the driest of around 35%, most of our hardwoods are 50%+ with Elm coming in around 65% :schocked: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Me and the 5 year old goes on a trip like this every second monday, since both have the day off from work. We bring along some food, binoculars and some plastic guns as well. And of course the Dodge makes a perfect ride for us. We build some traps and such and hunt down a few commies as well. I'm not quite sure who has the best time!? For this summer we have already started planning "operation serpent", which is the invasion of a small island in lake Mjøsa. We found maps and recon photos of the island already. Will need some amphibious equipment to make. The assignment is to invade it and stay there for 24 hours, before we pull back. Schedulded to take place around july 1st.
