ashtonpete
To get this far has taken the efforts of many, I am just a cog in a cog, however I rank as the sun wheel, the rest are my planets Edited May 19, 2013 by ashtonpete

antar
Andy why were you hiding in the workshop whilst taking video ? I know tanks can be dangerous but you could get a little closer !
andym
I like the tent on the back - is that the Command version? :-) Andy
eddy8men
the tent is actually in the background and not on the tank but the pic does make it look like a REME ARV complete with penthouse. it takes me back to my days on the barrow (434). when the grunts were roughing it in trenches we had bunk beds, cooker, stereo, heater, quality porn stash. (living the dream) :-D andy thanks for posting up the footage. rick

ajmac
Great to see the old girl on the move, good work all round. How long do you think it has been since that meteor powered the Charioteer around the Finnish countryside? What work is left on the turret before it can be reunited with the hull? Old Git
Does anyone know what the difference was between the shock absorbers on the Centaur and the Cromwell IV (FS)? Were they both made by Newton & Bennett and would you happen to know what the model numbers were? Any pics of the Cromwell shocks would be most welcome as well? ashtonpete
I may just have some information that could be useful...going back to Bobs yard now, so I'll mail you later. I only live 500 yards from yard.

Old Git
Thanks Pete, looking forward to it mate! I hope you got those files I uploaded for you mate? Let me know if they're OK. Adrian thanks for the reply mate, you looked like you were about to type Instruction Manual but then thought better of it, or is that part of the model number? From what I'm reading the Cromwell IV used a two-way hydraulic shock absorber but from the pics I've seen of a stripped Centaur it would appear that they used a different type of shock. Of course I'm no expert but it does look different to the drawings I have of, what I presume to be, the S6 shocks. If there was a change I presume that it was part of the FS upgrades? I could have but that would have spoiled the whole idea of having a crappy vid, if you look closely in the pic I'm hiding in the back (above the roof in that overloaded transit pick up I'm doing my chadd or chav impression). Sorry, it's short for I seem to remember! As far as I know (afaik) the shock absorbers are the same but I will check as it's been a while since I had all that in my head! ajmac
Rick, if you look in that Rolls Royce history of the Meteor book I remember there being a chapter talking about Centaur / Cromwell shock absorbers (dampers if we are being pedantic), have a look.
