Help !

I today rolled out my associated military vehicle tents in order to give them a good airing ready for my first mv show ie muckleborough on the 26th of june and have discovered much to my annoyance the little bastards with tails have knorred a hole in my 9x9 frame tent which was like new to begin with .Ive yet to open up my bivvy tent which is going on my daf so fingers crossed they havent tucked into that.:argh:

my cats has been given their orders to exterminate anything mouse shaped

So does anyone know of someone who specialises in repairing these tents in east anglia or nearby and anchor supplies new are £550 each  As im in a bit of a panic now as it needs to be done before the show in north norfolk

thanks

Talk to a local saddler. They have the machines capable of sewing canvas patches on.

Thanks tony problem with that is not sure if they would have the same type replacement material as theres three holes with the circumfrence of a coke can and not wishing to sound ungrateful but i dont want the patches standing out a mile off lol

Could they use canvas from the blackout curtain, would be best match?

Hi,

As for the material, anchor supplies had a load of "scrap" canvas last time I was up there, from a £5 I think. Some of it was almost new, just ripped beyond repair or not sewn properly.

Maybe worth a phone call to them to send a sq metre? Then get someone to repair it.

Only an idea

Cheers

Alex

I bought a 9x9 just recently, and had to repair a couple of small holes. I have used brand new, old stock 2-man bivvy canvas,.... and if I may say so, I did a grand job, a friend 'in the know', was convinced they'd been professionally repaired. I could repair it for you,.... but you'd have to get it to me, I'm in Hythe, near Southampton.:-\

I presume you're after ripstop canvas as someone has said Anchor Supplies have canvas and if you ask I'll send you a piece that I have cut up to repair the RB44's tilt. Ex Bedford side canvas the only problem you have will be colour matching.

If you know of someone with an old fashioned Singer sewing machine you will find that type of sewing machine is more than up to the job of repairing you're canvas.

New sewing machines are not up to the job of sewing canvas in any of its forms.

If you don't fancy that Anchor Supplies have replacement canvas

I have used the inner flap from the stowage bags before to repair canvas - We have just skipped a couple of brand new 4 tonne canvas tilts, so will have a look tonight to see if they are still there. All our 4 tonne NOS and stock is being skipped at moment as we no longer have the vehicles any more. It is a crying shame as most of it would go at a swap meet or similar but we cannot sell it on and have to bin it all. What beggars belief if the skip driver etc can take it away then sort it all out and sell it at a local car boot etc.

If the MOD had act together (or time etc) they could easily sell it to brokers (Anchor etc) and at least get something for it.

I can see a marketing opportunity here for someone with time on their hands to receive all that stuff and catalogue n sell it off lol

Most companies have those sorts of rules and its understandable but what a waste.
