  1. Only if the seller is not VAT registered, in this case the seller (Army Cars) will almost certainly be VAT registered.
  2. EPINAMEL is an industrial coating, could it be the interior of the tank has been coated?
  3. If you look at the roof of the blue one there is a clue.. From Clive at Protruck who was involved with the development of the DROPS on the Scammell side: Here's a couple of the wide track 6x6 S26 Drops With 24R x 20 tyres. http://www.protruckservices.com/Scammell%20Drops/scan00001.jpg http://www.protruckservices.com/Scammell%20Drops/scan00010.jpg http://www.protruckservices.com/Scammell%20Drops/scan00016.jpg Also the smaller wheeled Mountaineer: http://www.protruckservices.com/Scammell%20Drops/scan00036.jpg
  4. Check out the Scammell Constructor thread, you will see the difference.
  5. There are quite a few with late BN reg numbers making them 53/54 such as these: 64BN91 AEC 10 Ton 6x4 Fuel Tanker 65BN21 AEC Militant Tanker
  6. There are a couple on ebay US currently, not the best photos though. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Chieftain-Tank-fan-belt-set-MK1-British-Tank-Military-/281105676856
  7. Yes Pat, it is a Badger with an alternative radiator. The logo on the rad belongs to Liverpool City Passenger Transport.
  8. Well done, my wife organised a training morning for me on the Swanage line some years ago driving a BR class 4 tank and 4 coaches to Corfe Castle and firing on the way back. Biggest problem was that I forgot BR locos are lhd and I had never shoveled left handed, with 4 of us in the cab it was somewhat hit and miss. What with looking after the fire, adjusting the dampers, working the injectors and helping the driver spot signals on right hand bends the fireman has a greater workload than the driver.
  9. Yes, I appreciate that, I was just a little surprised that they didn't know the difference between a radar set and a rocket launcher.
  10. Agreed, they claim the Foden 8x6 Cobra radar is a rocket launcher....
  11. Out of interest Iain was that a 760 with a TL12 top end or a complete TL12?
  12. An even earlier pic: http://www.ebay.it/itm/35mm-COLOUR-SLIDE-LORRY-TOW-TRUCK-AEC-WRECK-REG-NYD-850L-/201391062178?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ee3d7bca2
  13. Just checked my one out and the bar stock is 5/8" or 16mm in new money.
  14. Suggesting that a member is both illiterate and an alcoholic is a sure fire way of making yourself popular.
  15. DT with a TFL 20, Maulden is just down the road from L W Vass so probably one of their conversions.
  16. Are you De Bondt Frank by any chance, I recently supplied one of those switches to him in Belgium?[h=3] [/h]
  17. Actually Mike, as far as I know there is no grammatical rule that suggests that 'me and Mike' is incorrect; it is merely a point of politeness to put yourself second among equal mortals. However when talking about lesser items it becomes perfectly correct, 'me and my screwdriver' rather than 'my screwdriver and I'. I worry more about the apparent substitution 'of' in place of 'have'.......
  18. OP is correct, maybe is an an adverb and means the same as perhaps. N.O.S is also correct:wave:
  19. ^ IMHO you are being overly pessimistic, the bang and jolt was more likely the dog clutch finally disengaging and releasing the torque, rather like when a vehicle jumps out of gear. A simple check would be to run the vehicle up in 4wd while on stands and see what is turning. Don't forget most older vehicles with tandem drive axles on the rear had no inter axle diff and suffered from constant power sapping wind up as it is impossible to guarantee equal diameter tyres.
  20. Sorry to have to admit I had the 5th wheel mounting frame from that one many years ago. The 5th wheel from a Crusader fits spot on with just a slightly different handle to the original and I can let you have a sketch of what the frame looks like if you cannot find one. Out of interest did the T belong to an old guy who lived in the Leicester area in the early 1990s?
  21. The replacement CW&Ps were a standard fit on Leyland Group 4x2/6x4 trucks made for general use so no problems with speed. I haven't driven a laden Crusader outfit but I suspect the brakes could be marginal due to the restriction on trailer drum size with the the small wheels.
  22. Looks like it. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=conqueror+arv+engine+bay&biw=1391&bih=654&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMInPLg8I3JxwIVJZfbCh12PARq#tbm=isch&q=conqueror+arv+engine+&imgrc=Q-Ck4tz3LIEWdM%3A
  23. The army tend to go by the payload capacity, the 60 odd tons is the rated GCW/GTW. A Militant or Martian 6x6 GS were classed as 10 ton but weighed over 20 tons laden.
