  1. Good find, here is the link: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/visit-of-the-queen-to-royal-engineers/query/chatham+queen
  2. No, 35ton plant trailer similar to the ones pulled by 6x6 Constructors. If this is the original one owned by DC it came from Peter Court as a non runner many years ago with all the brake shoes removed and the con rods and pistons in the back of the cab! I bought the 3.5" 5th wheel to go on my Constructor as it was almost identical to the original and Peter Court let me have the mounting crossmember from his recovery Constructor. You can use Crusader recovery crown wheels/pinions to get about 50 flat out or even lower ratio ones from a Leyland Marathon.
  3. Don't think so, the RAF ones didn't have a winch IIRC.
  4. It is a LAFB-light assault floating bridge designed in 1947 and pictured at the RSME-Royal School of Military Engineering at Chatham. The flatbed Matadors were used in conjunction with a trailer to transport the component parts. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=aa7gAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA275&lpg=PA275&dq=light+assault+floating+bridge&source=bl&ots=tgqT2ZV8_x&sig=TtuP7F-VbaWy90zvgtB3l0z5Cvc&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CD4Q6AEwB2oVChMI7LyQlaXFxwIV0grbCh1QlgwR#v=onepage&q=light%20assault%20floating%20bridge&f=false It even shows a view of the half built bridge.
  5. Good work Clive, I had to look it up as had not heard of Unipren but it appears to be an older type of aircraft cable with a glass fibre sheath. http://www.intercables.co.uk/highperformance/Unipren/index.php
  6. Correct me if I am wrong but does 4" scale not mean 4" to the foot, in which case your 12" wheel is not the right size? If you mean 1/4 scale then the 12" wheel/tyre is correct as a 14.00x20 tyre is circa 48" in overall diameter.
  7. Nick, 2 simple checks, have you got air at palm coupling 21 and are the brake actuators 11 moving on axle 2?? If the answer to both is no then the most likely scenario is tank 6 has no pressure, suspect regulator 15. If you have no pressure in tank 6 it will also prevent the inter axle diff and front wheel drive actuators from working, it is vital to lock the inter axle diff if going of road as it will seize up if you spin it for long enough. Let us know how you get on.
  8. EGR perhaps.... http://www.commercialmotor.com/latest-news/man-admits-to-fixing-300-faulty-euro-5-d26-engines
  9. Something like this one? http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/showphoto.php?photo=36949&title=autocar-u8244t&cat=1317
  10. Hello John, I have never seen one but found a hydraulic filter with the same number: http://www.simplyfilter.com/hf6184-fleetguard-hydraulic-filter-p/1uhf6184.htm Mike
  11. Unless you buy one of the very few Fodens that are already registered (3 I believe) you will have to stick with a Leyland/DAF, width issues make the Foden almost impossible to register, believe me I tried. The tyres are also an issue as they retail at over £3k each and are in demand for loading shovels which makes even part worn ones expensive.
  12. Iain, I very much doubt that generator has AVR and would not suggest using it to power a computer/smart TV etc. Also remember that the KW rating is 80% of the KVA rating and it may have trouble starting a fridge motor if already powering other consumers.
  13. Automec used to supply kunifer type brake pipe in straight lengths, worth giving them a try. Don't go down the copper route as it needs supporting every foot to prevent work hardening due to vibration. http://www.automec.co.uk/
  14. Not forgetting the 680 Power Plus and 690, the turbo variant.
  15. Seems like the AWD was tested using a pair of Cents, Antar has confirmed his one as an ARV, I remember a BARV and here it is with a Chieftain MBT:
  16. Hi Andy, does it have a Hercules or a Rolls?
  17. This is how I remember it as I used to work in the compound next to where it was stored with the trailer and what I recall being a Centurion BARV but I may be wrong. When AWD went pop it was offered to me for £20k, a tiny fraction of what it must have cost to develop. IIRC it had a Cummins 400 and Fuller Roadranger 9 speed 'box with a 2 speed transfer. It had solid beam rear suspension connected to the chassis with a number of rubber blocks and I was told the only issue was that some more development was required to the power steering.
  18. I would have guessed mid 80s too but DVSA have it down as being built in 1941 and registered in 1993. It used to live just outside Newport Pagnell.
  19. Witham have the infamous mongrel up for auction, it was put together many years ago by a friend of mine and was often seen pulling an artillery piece: http://whitelabel.globalauctionplatform.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/wca/catalogue-id-witham1-10000/lot-a39093e3-05a3-4e2b-b25c-a49c00c5c63a?clienturl=wca
  20. You can drive it to a pre booked MOT or to a workshop for repair/conversion to make it capable of passing a test, home does not count unless it is a registered car repair business, taking it to a workshop for a 'pre MOT' is also not allowed. You could still be prosecuted if the vehicle is unroadworthy.
  21. I think you mean insure it, you cannot tax it without a valid MOT.
  22. Wasn't expecting that, where has it gone?:???
  23. It's castor you need to self steer Bernard, but I'm sure you meant that anyway:cool2: From memory the Scammell front axle is set up with zero caster but I don't have the figures in front as I type.
