  1. Cheers Richard for the quick response. A couple more years of saving yet for me, but you are probably right :-D
  2. Hi Stormin, Try this link as we did have a thread about something similar earlier on in the year, http://www.hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=11877 PS Sorry to be taking it off topic a bit paulob!!
  3. Magazine came yesterday so thanks to those that pointed me in the right direction. Now this may sound really stupid (right section for it :-D) but do you have to have a Military Vehicle to be in the MVT. Probably a really obvious answer to a really obvious question but just interested to find out as I'm thinking about joining.
  4. I've got some more pics of this from the front on my old pc will have to try and find them out over the next couple of days.
  5. :yay: my post made it on then before big crash last night, although it wasn't showing as the last post in this thread just as I checked the British Vehicles sub-forum?
  6. Could it not be argued that some of these vehicles mentioned were either built at the start of WW2 or were quickly put into service following the retreat from Dunkirk? The advance in technology over the next five years obviously brought with it the advance in vehicle design meaning those that had been in service at the start of the war could possibly have been the worst? Hopefully you can see what I'm getting at :-D:yay:
  7. Thanks very much for the added information. Anybody like to hazard a guess what vehicle that is, with the white star on, right in the bottom right-hand corner of the second pic on post number five which you have already talked about?
  8. Thanks for those pictures Kim, what a shame that a number of these vehicles have already been broken up already as those pictures look like a number are salvageable. I suppose this has happaned up and down the UK over the years as well but has never been highlighted quite so much.
  9. Yes it is a good rally and like I have already mentioned they have one in June as well, ususually the first weekend in June going on previous years. It was the first time I had been for over ten years as well although I have driven past the site a number of times over the years when going to Ashbourne et al.
  10. Certainly very much an ouch regarding the steam engine, looked to be in a bad way from that picture. Who had the unfortunate job of having to put out all the peg markers for the different exhibits I wonder!!!
  11. :thanx: will have to look out for that one next year then.
  12. Went to the NS & CTEC Steam Party on Sunday and had a really good day out, helped by some lovely late autumn sunshine and quite a few different exhibits which I hadn't seen before (including a couple of surprises). The show is based on their Klondyke Mill site in Draycott in the clay, Staffordshire and the whole site (including workshops) are opened up for visitors. There were a couple of military vehicles on display and around 25 steam exhibits, which is great for a show of this size. While hiding down the bottom end of the site there was a nice surprise in the form of a Scammell Pioneer. A really good show and certainly one to visit next year as they have one in both June and October. Below are a collection of pictures from Sunday, including one of our Austin Gipsy :-D
  13. Cheers Mark for these. Where abouts in Crewe was this show? looks like one to add to the 'to do' list next year as not too far from home for me.
  14. I love pictures like this as they really do create lots of questions. For example what are the men doing in the last picture (laying another roadway?) on post number five and what vehicle is that in the bottom right-hand corner? While also providing interesting information on bits of WW2 that people didn't know about. Cheers for posting them
  15. What an interesting read that was. Although I knew about the paradummies being dropped I didn't know that some SAS men went in with them as well. Will be interesting to see how much it makes at auction.
  16. This was on Hollyoaks Later last week, is at anyone's on here? Managed to take a print screen shot of it and it is attached in the pdf file. Doc2.pdf
  17. Cheers both for the quick response. Should be able to sort this out now :
  18. ....Windscreen magazine. Can you buy it without being a member? I've been on the website and as far as I can see it doesn't really state yes or no. I only want the last copy so to I'm able to build on the collection of pictures from this years Normandy Commemorations. Don't know if this is possible or not?
  19. So it's got to be something to do with 'Easy' Company then?? Would it be on the road to Carentan? Apart from that I still don't know!!
  20. Hi Eastblock. Were you driving up the M1 on Saturday lunchtime between 12-1pm ? If so I think I saw you as we were driving the other way.
  21. I went about nine years ago now and I really enjoyed it and to top it off on the wall there was a photo of someone who I knew from home!!! It's a shame if they have like people have said chnaged all the layout and judging by these pictures on here there is some kind of structure right in front of the main building now, http://www.market-garden.info/airborne_museum_renovation_03.html
  22. Cheers for the pictures. Certainly looks like we have had the better weather over here in the last few weeks!!!
  23. I had read about this change elsewhere Paul and a number of their shows are going to be at Stratford Armouries next year. As I have said on here and in a report I did on the Evesham Steam Rally for Worlds Fair for me the show was made a hell of a lot better for visitors by having the added attraction of Ashdown Camp and all that came with it (it certainly increased the vehicle numbers). I think those that hadn’t had the chance to experience the camp will certainly be missing out.
