We managed to get up to Dead Man's Corner museum just outside of Carentan on the morning of the 6th then back down to Arromanches for the commemorations. Albeit on the way back from Carentan we had to take the long way around as the motorway was closed meaning we had to go south then cut across country which wasn't too bad at all really.

We stopped on the same campsite as you then!!! You had a nice load on when all the different things were loaded onto the lorry as shown below.

show report Market Garden commemorations
Smithy replied to Smithy's topic in The meetings log and photobook
Thanks for that maurice and mcspool. Just wondering if you know what is happening up at Arnhem over the weekend of 19th and 20th September? -
I know it's a couple of months away yet and we have only just had the D-Day Anniversary but does anyone know what is happening this year for the Market Garden commemorations? Are they going to be held over a weekend or do they go on for the duration of how long the operation went on for? Any help would be much appreciated.

No problems private mw. Right as I mentioned earlier, I don't think I have ever seen so many different DUKW's in one place at any one time. Below are the ones I photographed in Normandy along with four I have already put on this thread, whilst I also saw a French one but did not have chance to photograph it. With all these added together I have counted fourteen different DUKW’s!!!

Can't say I have Mike. We don't have that trouble with the Gipsy we just shove it in through the back door!!:-D

www.hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=8635 I agree Adam, it picked us up as spectators as well. We were all pretty down due to the weather but to hear the sound of those engines coming soon picked everyone up. Below is a picture from Arromanches. We were lucky enough to see the BoBMF twice, once at Arromanches and once in a little village earlier on in the weekend as we waited in a queue of traffic in a small village.

Here are the ones at Shawbury that were mentioned earlier. When I posted them originally on here, http://www.hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=8635 , it was mentioned then that they aren't allowed to fly.

It looked very nice Phil, saw it once at Arromanches and another time just up the road from Pegasus Bridge. Well done for bringing it over. Would be interesting to see how they got it down as well incase it was needed!!!

What does this mean on the front of the bonnet of various vehicles? I have always wondered this.

Some nice pictures there np. Below are the two Matadors which I saw in Normandy last weekend. One as I have mentioned belongs to someone on here as there was a HMVF sticker in the window. While the other one had been driven all the way from Newcastle for the celebrations!!!

Some nice pictures there. It's amazing just how many different vehicles were in Normandy over the past couple of weeks.
-
From what I could see it looked like a couple of them had started to be cut up as there was plenty of scaffolding etc around them.

No problems Alex anytime. Scott

Just a few pictures that I managed to take from the ferry out of Portsmouth on the way to Normandy last Thursday morning.

I'm at work at the moment Al, but I have got some more pictures at home of them. I will post them up later on today once I get home.

Oh right ok David thanks for that as I was just going by the date on your pictures. Yes Sunday morning was lovely for the most part so explains the blue sky. That's great news about the veterans let's hope that it does happen again as I will be going back for sure!!!

Cheers Clive, one more attached which was taken a bit closer to the cliff edge:sweat: I think I saw about 12 different DUKW's in total, certainly the most I have ever seen in one place before. Below is a picture of one in the sea which I just managed to capture.
-
Some good pictures there David. What time of day did you go to Pegasus Bridge as when we went yesterday it was raning for the couple of hours we were there and seemed like it was stuck in for the day.
