  1. Is the engine stuck or turning?
  2. Excellent work and attention to detail ๐Ÿ‘
  3. Quick update Drivers door now fitted, it took a bit more work than anticipated, the top and bottom hinges needed minor adjustments on the cab itโ€™s self and the side panel altered but it has all worked well and the door sits nicely and shuts fairly evenly all round Couldn't get a good picture as the truck is to close to the house. Lastly I finished removing the rest of the paint from the doors and came across a very distinct layer of blue on the passenger door, this is the only blue paint found anywhere on the truck so I imagine the passenger door has been replaced at some point, it looks like RAF blue to me but I am not sure if the RAF would have had any wot6โ€™s ??
  4. Great pictures, half the fun is digging them out and saving them.
  5. Whatโ€™s the chassis number? UK home market and CKD kits have different numbers.
  6. I was airing on the side of caution ๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™ll use it on general decorating jobs.
  7. I used 1mm mild steel , not sure what that is in gauge, you could probably get away with 1.2mm but any thicker would be painful to fold the edges. Definitely not any thinner, 1mm is quite thin but with the brace bar loaded with seam sealer and a good bead around the edge it firms up well when dry, the only downside is thin metal welding!! I still always manage to distort the sheet slightly.
  8. I am going to buy shares, I might as well get some money back ๐Ÿ˜
  9. Drivers door doneโ€ฆ. Cut out the new skin yesterday afternoon Slotted the hinges first. Joggled the top edge and trimmed. I tried a different method fitting this skin, I applied a generous bead of seam sealer and clamped the skin in place then left it overnight to cure, this made folding the edges so much easier when the skin is stuck in place. Folded and tacked in place, just needs the welding joined, grinding and filling. Not sure if Iโ€™ve bought enough filler ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  10. I wish my kids had a bit more interest, the extra help would be handy๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  11. The canvas looks very good, Iโ€™ve read quite a few recommendations for RCH canvas, Iโ€™ll be getting in touch with them shortly to have a cupola cover made and seat cushions for the wot6
  12. I have a selection of nail guns and sharp chisels, what could possibly go wrong ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  13. Two Steps Forward One Step Back!! โ€œ The drivers door โ€œ Nowโ€ฆ.I am not a religious person butโ€ฆ..โ€ God give me strength โ€œ ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ this door is driving me up the wall !! The drivers door is actually far worse than the passenger, itโ€™s basically fubarโ€ฆ.but the likelihood of getting a replacement is slim to none. My plan for Saturday was to adjust the hinges and hang the door followed by fitting a new skinโ€ฆ..well that didnโ€™t happen ๐Ÿคจ I knew the hinges would need a fare amount of fettling to hang the door straight, bearing in mind next to nothing on the cab was original to start with so everything is having to be fabricated to fit individually. After hanging, removing and adjusting the door hinges ( big hammer and vice ) about 50 times it was starting to look right but there was one small tiny problem ๐Ÿค” Jump back about a year ago when the cab was being rebuilt This was one of the few sections of cab that didnโ€™t get replaced by me, It had however been repaired by a previous owner, the passenger side was replaced by me as it had rotted away. Jump forward to yesterday and see if you can spot the problem. Was this a school boy error by myself for not spotting or checking an older repair?? Iโ€™ll leave you to decide. Having explored all options on how to solve the problem, I even tried to bend the door frame slightly to cope with the curve in the cab but with no success, the only option was soul destroying but had to be done ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Block of wood and a hammer !! Iโ€™ve now just added on a couple of days more work but the door now opens and closes. And as if destroying the side of the cab wasnโ€™t enough I then slipped with the grinder and a cutting disc and ran it across the top of my thumb ๐Ÿ˜ข A small amount of blood loss and a lot of swearing, I gave up for the day hopefully Iโ€™ll get the door skin fitted next week.
  14. If itโ€™s just slightly weeping try Steel seal, I used some on a gpw block about a year ago and it still seams ok.
  15. Very nice, useful for Sunday pleasure cruises on the Thames ๐Ÿ˜
  16. Thanks Peter but I think your being a bit optimistic about getting 20 years out of a defender door ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  17. Door number two is now under construction and I thought the passenger door was bad!! Wrong ๐Ÿคจ the 1/4 inch thick filler on the skin was an early indicator ๐Ÿ™„ It wasnโ€™t to long before the door just got smaller and smaller The hinged side was particularly bad and a new inner and over section were needed. Iโ€™ve replicated the same repair panel as the passenger door, just need to finish the details. Hopefully in the next coming week the skin will be fitted and I can start prepping for paint.
  18. Think you might be over your 20kg allowance and I am not sure if a pair of fenders could pass as hand luggage ๐Ÿ˜‚ Good work collecting all the parts, is it a lot cheaper than acquiring them in Europe?
  19. Itโ€™s a miracle!! They actually fit ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿป
  20. Luckily mine doesnโ€™t have any curves!!
  21. Finished work a bit early today and decided to have a crack at one of the windscreen frames. This is the closest size channel I could find off the shelf, just had to cut the inner edges out and grind clean. Cleaned off the edge of the frame, itโ€™s badly pitted but still serviceable. Minor repair to the surviving part of the channel. All lined up and tacked in place. All starting to take shape, a bit more welding, grinding and fettling, ๐Ÿคžit still fits the cab ๐Ÿค”
  22. I can honestly see a lot of people losing money and the company going bankrupt before the next show, I was happy to defer 2020 to 21 but not 2021-22, at this moment in time I have absolutely no interest in returning to W&P and many other people have said the same.
  23. Lucky bugger ๐Ÿ˜ I need to retire to finish my Fordson
