  1. Counselling and beer sounds perfect 👍
  2. Without trying to hijack my own thread one quick question, is there a contract number plate on the Matador and if so where would it be?
  3. Ok……..I have a problem and I am seeking help….😁
  4. I am going to be sensible and finish the wot first 🤔🤥 I couldn’t really turn the matador down, it’s early production and very original, it will be sheeted up and I will start a new blog next year.
  5. Like I haven’t got enough to do!!!!! 😁😁 The parking space is now filled🙄😂
  6. For sale, my series 3 lightweight needs a new home 1979 Land Rover series 3 lightweight, military reg 21HF12, entered service 01/02/1980, served with 50 MSL REGT in Germany, original spec LHD, chassis number 954#####, converted to RHD post service, demobbed in 1993 and road registered. Tax and MOT exempt This Land Rover requires a full restoration, the vehicle is 95% complete. The chassis does require work, outriggers and patches in various places, the rear cross member has been replaced at sometime but it’s civilian spec and not military, both from dumb irons are original and the chassis number is clearly stamped. Bulkhead requires the usual repairs but is definitely salvageable. The engine is stuck from sitting and is currently soaking with penetration oil, it’s completed apart from the carb, the gearbox and propshafts are also there. Both fuel tanks and change over lever are still in place. The door tops have rotted away but the glass is present, there are a pair of spare front wings to replace the damaged one. The vehicle is in unmolested condition, perfect for restoration and comes with its V5 Vehicle located in Surrey kt10 £1995 please give me a call if you’re interested Seamus 07778857180
  7. Evening everyone Its been a while since I last posted and unfortunately there has been zero progress, work has been ridiculously busy and it looks set to continue for the foreseeable 🤞 for a lottery win and early retirement!! I did however have a bit of a move around, with the Fordson being in the driveway it was always a bit of a pain to work on and having to put tools away and cover it each night slows things down, so…. I made the side gates to the garage wider…. The furthest the truck has moved under its own steam in the last 25 years was backwards and forwards in my driveway…. What could possibly go wrong!! It hadn’t been started this year so I popped a battery on, put a live feed to the solenoid and it started on the button 🎉🍻 run for 5 seconds, cut out and then refused to start!!! A few hours later and a temporary fuel pipe fitted She started and ran sweet as a nut, it would appear it has developed an air leak somewhere in the fuel system…job for another day. moved it from its resting place and began the slow process of squeezing it down the side of the house. I won’t lie, it was tight!! Finally in😬 also gave me a chance to photograph the rear as it’s always been parked in the hedge. Now there’s a big space in the driveway!! I wonder what could go there 🤔 I can definitely reassure you that I haven’t bought anything else 🤥 Just to finish off, this lightweight is looking for a new home, please pm me if your interested.
  8. Has it ever been recorded by the dvla that it’s had a chassis change? Land Rover chassis’s get changed all the time without notifying dvla.
  9. Why would it still need an MOT? if it’s registered as Historic it should be tax and mot exempt
  10. So…..it’ll be finished by next weekend then 😁 Nice looking series 3 👍
  11. I know the feeling Jon, I’ve had some rest bite from the Fordson but now need to get stuck in before the project goes stale !!
  12. As usual Jon the attention to detail is outstanding 👍 hopefully you’ll be back to full speed soon.
  13. Thank you for the replies, I thought I replied this morning but it hasn’t worked from my phone. more storage definitely required!! Always liked the look of Matadors so I thought… why not Joined the FB group today but not received anymore information than provided by you chaps so far 🤞 Thanks for the info Nick, I am viewing the truck tomorrow, it’s priced at 8k but I am not sure if it’s a good price for a resto project
  14. Morning everyone I am going to view a 1939/40 AEC Matador troop carrier tomorrow morning, I am after a few tips on what to look out for and in particular how to date it, does anyone have a chassis number list or is there big differences between early and late models? It’s a restoration project but I believe it’s all complete. thank you in advance for any information received.
  15. I second all of the above, good work 👍
  16. Definitely worth a go, if it goes wrong grind it off and start again 😁

  19. This has been a useful thread , I need to get new seat covers made for my wot6 and eventually a rear canvas, luckily I have one set of original covers to use as a pattern.
