  1. Welcome aboard, all thats needed is an interest in things Green or O.D. or Militaria or ? you ll see as you explore the site, Tell me about your Armorama.com
  2. Welcome aboard and a fine collection you have there. Perhaps you would add to your perfect list an American mv of some kind ? not that I d try to turn you to the dark side and suggest a Jimmy < you didnt hear that>. Mind the flowerbed they just got the Dodges off the lot just before you got here, parking is a bit limited .
  3. I want one when they go on the market please sir please , it would fit in my Ben-Hur ok ok please
  4. cant wait for them to be on the market here
  5. Good Luck and may it all go smoothly and the surprises be pleasent ones.
  6. :-D you mean I got a mini-mystery object identified ? :thankyou: :dancinggirls: WOW!!! It will never happen again .
  7. yikes! it just does, of course the only other way would have been to find the life size original and measure it , but having the fun of building the model would not be had . well done ... shame about the limited storage but I think thats the thing that limits our hobby the most. The options are limited but thats where forming a Museum starts to make sense to get a larger commercial space and others to help share the costs are the positives the negatives are some will have to travel further than others to get to their vehicles
  8. Nice photo , at least thats a piece of equipment that can be used to earn its keep in a very practical way . Might even be used it to build its own home? , unlike my CCKW that would only be a money maker if hired out for films and ads etc.
  9. what is the cone shaped object on the instrument cluster just below the oil pressure gauge? home made ashtray perhaps?
  10. Great to hear and watch that M-series in action but ,Good gosh! a couple of the houses are right on the street ! open the door and you are in the street ! a few are a bit better having to take a step or two and Then your into the street !. Seems a bit of demolition would be in order just to make the roads a little bit safer. I know the British roads were built for horses and wagons but either the vehicles have to shrink or the roads have to get wider at some point unless they are going to be one way only
  11. that photo just screams for a Then and Now update !!!
  12. Yes very rememberable, the black and white images and then color of the flames
  13. Just found this thread , Great photo ... Nice to see the older equipment still being taken care of and used to educate another generation and not being cut apart to be melted down .
  14. I checked again today and while HMVF has a banner on the right side its still not among the listed clubs?
  15. At least you have options since they didn't melt the guns down . Would seem that it would be a large undertaking and a fair amount of money needed , yes the use of the same type of vehicle to recover as was used to dispose is a nice touch but wouldn't it be safer and quicker to use a proper crane ? From what I have read in other recovery efforts lately that the locals where these things are being taken from are wanting the objects to stay in place as a tourist attraction fearing that with out them they will be forgotten . Perhaps the island officials could be involved so as to get permits and support for the recovery and say one of the guns donated as a monument atop the cliffs and I guess your thinking the others to go to display else where ?
  16. The photo of the lads moving the artillery piece reminds me of a series i saw on British TV back in the late 80's "Combat" which had different military teams moving an artillery piece across an obstacle course in a timed contest any one else recall it?
  17. what a pity all that work by those work shop personal to restore those vehicles twice only to have them disposed of , at least I hope the lucky people to get them keep them up and not trash them or neglect them .
  18. for more on the economics of bio-fuels check out this months issue of National Geographic covers the corn , soybean and sugar cane growing and convertion
  19. yes here are three i found www.dogtagsdirect.com or www.armydogtags.com or www.id-ideas.com i m sure there are likely others just google I have seen vendors at some militaria events who make them while you wait
  20. A question for safariswing in the photo showing the rear of the interior of your Ferret , What is the large bit of machinery protruding on the left hand side of the cabin next to the radio?
  21. I 'd say this would be a good example why they should be used , Just in case . something unexpected and sudden happens , Of course a good idea when off roading as well when the vehicle is making abrupt motions .
  22. When the final drive packed up did you get thrown against your harness or did you have any warning it was failing ? I wondered if it came to a complete halt in a split second ? or did it drag to halt in a few seconds. Good thing if it had to happen that it was so close to home and you had all the tools to deal with it !!
  23. Yup it happens alot , As to the CGI computer generated image angle . There are so few real Historic Military aircraft left of that to have a large group of the them requires the use of cgi , Perhaps some of you have seen the series in which historic dog fights have been recreated if it wasn't for the great cgi effects they could never have made the stories come to life and be understood by none pilots.
  24. Thanks for the details. So far they <the restoration company > have gotten the engine running , this is the first time its run in 10 years . It will still need to be completely gone thru as I m concerned about low oil pressure that it had since I first drove it. They will be going into all its systems just to make sure things are in good order. All the wood has been removed , the troop seats and head board, for paint removal and to see how much will be reuseable since the truck was out doors for the last 17 years in New England weather , Similar to what you have there wet , damp with periods of heat .
  25. Is there some extra sheet metal on the cab roof or where they made that way? also were there sides to the hood area?
