  1. very clever Hope some one will post a audio clip of that being sung on day !
  2. if you would feel more comfortable with it removed from your CCKW you can always send it to me and I see that it has a good home !
  3. there are a number of CCKW's to choose from Compressor truck's , rare ones like work shop , or printing , photo development , communications , wreckers , bolsters a number used on the airbase's cargo loaders ,tankers, firefighting ,crash trucks . the generally found are cargo or a few air-portable's as these were the last surplussed , But you never know what you may discover . The good news is the running gear is basically all the same either short 352's or 19" longer 353's the cabs in two styles closed early war or open mid 1944 unless replaced. The rear bodies are what make each special
  4. Back near the beginning of this thread was an Idea on war movies . I just purchased a very cheap dvd just a few dollars "Objective Burma" its a very early ww2 film <1941> with Errol Flynn but my interest in posting were the two 1941 short movies included in the dvd. One "Tail Gunner" with Ronald Reagan, Burgess Meredith has some great shots of 1 1/4 ton Chevy's being used as mobile platforms for twin cal. fifties to teach gunnery . the other short is "the Tanks are Coming" with George Tobias which was filmed at Fort Knox , showing some very early Stuart tanks and something that was perhaps only a training tank like a Stuart but a three sided drivers postion of more interest to some here are a few very brief glimpses of pre- ww2 Halftracks and the prewar CCKW with the civilian cab that only show up in the final seconds as a column of HMV comes driving up a shallow stream .
  5. If the ketchup stays put while driving then those buns aren't very fluffy, they must be like rocks LOL .
  6. Thats great to be able to post video's here and not to have to link them to you-tube . What is the file size limit of video's?
  7. They could have worn either HBT Coveralls in addition to other clothes or BDU's battle dress uniform . photo's of ww2 show jeep caps , hbt caps or helmets depending on closeness of enemy action.
  8. Great looking show and the weather was nice and sunny how hot was it ?
  9. A very Happy Birthday , make sure you blow out all the candles on the first try if you want your wish to come true!
  10. Thats some wiring for that cooker ! Not bad you get to cook a meal and brew up some water for a cupa at the same time . Of course I still think that boiling a frankfurter/hotdog/winer is a crime but each to their own tastes.
  11. perhaps the firing order has been changed ? if the spark plug leads are not connected in the proper sequence that would produce some of the results you describe
  12. ok here goes an apprenticed ? commercial/industrial painting equipment mechanic I dont operate it I justs fixes it, sometimes with a ammer sometimes witha Bigga ammer Then I sells em a new things a mabob.
  13. I have seen a number of posts about them over here and a couple of notes about using the wooden steering wheels from the 1 1/2 ton Chevy but that its a bit smaller in diameter making turning a bit more of a work out . To get back to your question , They are not common at all very hard to find my Jimmy has a Plastic steering wheel so if a wooden one were to show up at a affordable price I m gona grab it !!!! I have seen a few photo's of bare spokes so those are around but No ones making repros yet perhaps the legal liability keeps anyone from making them ???
  14. While the asking price of O.D. vechiles may be low .....its the restoration and upkeep that adds up very fast as most of these HMV's were not engineered for economy of operation . Nor are many of them very fast ... but the bigger they are the more the traffic generally tends to give way ! Good luck in your search and Welcome to the Group !
  15. is it a pigeon transport container?
  16. Thanks for the link , Interesting vehicle and history
  17. My question still stands , what size engine and how fast ? I d guess its 80 hp and perhaps 80 mph about 120k? with three wheels the corning speed must be low , they sold because of good milage?
  18. its abn deuce , which stands for Airborne Deuce. I guess it would be more properly thought of as an airportable but couldn't come up with an easily recognizable abbreviation Because thats the most significant feature of my HMV a 1944 GMC CCKW353H-1
  19. Quite a verity of HMV's at that show , a very Well Done to all that made the trip In or with their O.D. Perhaps One day I ll be able to attend a show as well.
  20. You must be mistaken what with those purple / lavender walls thats G-O-T to be the Lades as the Gents would never let that color be on Our Walls. In addition the seats down so cant possable be Gents !!!Just ask any wife
  21. Fantastic set of buildings you have there ! If you collect the O.D. then next thing you always need is large enough indoor work and storage space .
  22. Great Looking HMV's the lot of them ! there is a proper tool described in TM 9 801 page 57 , now if i could find someone willing to manufacture a few of them I would think about using my Winch .
  23. Man , whats with all the limits and all the rules ! whats with the Land Rovers will only be accepted if they are fitted with side windows and Fixed rear seats? Next thing they be asking for vehicles of only X or Y colors and only this or that Tread pattern on the tires ! We would never stand for such limits here , I can understand wanting to separate one group of vehicles from others but when your putting the show vehicles in one area and the rest else where . As i read it these rules are for the camping area ??? sounds like Snobs to me
  24. So , does it have a single cylinder or multi -cylinder Engine under the hood? What kinda speed can you get out of that ?
  25. Best wishes on your Special Day , May you have Many many more!!!!
