  1. I ll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that you dont have any broken ones although it sound like a L-O-T of work ahead to find out , So many parts to remove just to get started and then The Real work begains of course after all that You have to re-install all those parts road wheels , tracks, etc . Sound like a multi -month project ?
  2. I wondered how you transport that Great four engine B-17 model? do the wings come off the fuselage as a unit ? Oh and as to the cab photo. I see you have the Norwegian modification of the window shade for the radiator in place.
  3. I took a little peek into "Classic Military Vehicle Magazine" which there is an ad link on the sign in page and among other things they have a list of 169 club and or re-enactor groups, HMVF isn't among the listed groups ?? I thought I mention it since we link to them , shouldn't we want to be on their list ?
  4. A fried slice of what ? Bacon or sausage or is there a third option ?
  5. Open for the same reasons mentioned above .
  6. I would ask if you speaking of entertainment movies or historical documentary's which would include Military training films?
  7. I was think only of the two strokes as in motorcycles and other light weight applications using a sparkplug and not the two cycles as in diesels which are indeed two stroke engines but much heavier vehicles that use glow plugs
  8. Well I guess 2 strokes in military use are much more common than I had thought.
  9. sounds like a fun time was had by all , great to see a longer clip of the travels you both had
  10. They pulled two Jimmies out of the woods on that trip a CCKW closed cab with USMC markings cab chassie only as a parts vehicle and a CCKW closed cab airport fuel tanker more details are at www.cckw.org
  11. First you see that car head on then you don't ? Did you go right on over the top LOL . I take it thats a two lane road ? Not much of any room to maneuver a CCKW on a road that size , My Hats off to you since it also means you have to have extraordinary reflex's as the side roads and hedges make for very limited vision for the car drivers , You being higher up can look over the hedges , still the buggers can hide all to well .
  12. Yes the Rain-X does work very well ,I use it on all my vehicles 1999 Dodge caravan , 2003 Toyota Prius currently and a number of others in the past and CCKW when the rain hits the glass the rain forms much smaller droplets on contact with a treated surface be it windshield or sidewindow or rear window , as a result you look thru a fine mist of droplets as anything larger runs right off and you don't have any film of water to look thru or to drag behind the wiper blades a real plus on the flat windshield of the CCKW as the wipers don't cover a lot of the area and the wipers don't work on those long hills unless you want to loose any speed by taking your foot off the gas to "see" where your going lol . True if you use the wipers it will take off the coating a bit faster but you reapply it every few months anyhow , I buy it in liquid form you can get it in a pump spray or towelettes .
  13. Thank you I ll be looking for the reports as you post them , 2 stroke ? mmmm cant think of any other military vehicle that uses one at the moment would make a great trivia question !
  14. Great to see what you had been talking about in the previous messages. Hows it compare with an MB ? like the Munga's ride , handling, ease of repairs? Oh and that was a great shot of double stacking them , lower one didn't seem to be minding the extra weight all that badly .
  15. Welcome to the Group , Whats the height on the radio mast ?
  16. I 'd say it would be something like "Riding with Private Malone" by David Ball with a twist that his service vehicle made it back to the USA . or "Arlington" by Travis Trit since its a honor for me to own and drive a WW2 Military vehicle
  17. Thank you for the information , I will try and read up on it further .
  18. Yes The Prestone Brand is live and well and a good brand of anti-freeze still sold all over the world
  19. Could someone post a few of the details of the event as I have never heard of it and want to know more about it .
  20. A fellow collector friend of mine heard a father tell his son that he drove one of those "prestone 44's" in the war
  21. I agree it was an over the top film for American consumption or propaganda in current terms . While I wasn't saying anything about the movie it self, It was the vehicles ,very rarely seen most of which were hopelessly obsolete when the war began for the U.S. But since they are HMV's I thought others would like a chance to see them . as for the actors perhaps a thread could be started about the hollywood hero's vs the Real war hero's like John Wayne Hollywood Hero vs "Scottie" Duhan real ww2 vet. wounded D-day. as so on both American and British Actors could be listed
  22. Now thats a Parade of some R-E-A-L-L-Y Heavy Metal ! Didn't seem to be much damage from those metal tracks on the centuries old cobblestone
  23. WOW what outstanding Photo's all the great restorations the verity of vehicles and the very dedicated work on doing the trenches and camp sites , the barbed wire and signs , must have taken a couple of days just to get it all set up and it shows in the results
