  1. If you have no workshop facilities. Then at best stick with a Ferret.A fox is more involved, and parts are scarce.
  2. I would change the points and condenser. Had problems exactly like yours, and it turned out to be worn points. I could get along the flat ok. But soon as i needed more power to climb a hill i used to get all sorts of problems. It would barely make it and start to cough. Ive also replaced the coil. No problems since.
  3. I will pop over and say hello. I take it your with the Dews/Laker posse??
  4. Its at John Dews,s gaff down the road. Had a quick recce of the hop farm before going home.
  5. Dropped the Ferret off this morning. On the way back saw another couple of militarys heading in that direction.
  6. Another nice find Vince:thumbsup: You have a lot to do now over the next few years.
  7. It looks like the female addition to the Reds is settling in from those pics.
  8. I tried it once to see if it was capable. It proved that it was. So no need to try again.
  9. 101 and trailer already loaded. Ferret will be down there next week near Beltring. Jeep and kit will be there also. Move in properly on the sunday prior to the show. Great thing about this 101 ive now got is i can easily pull 75mph fully loaded with the trailer. O/D really does make a difference. No more holding people up on the 7 mile lane...:
  10. Old forum member CW was theer when this was filmed.
  11. That really is nice. Its a shame the M.O.D didnt take them up. If i remember rightly they were in production around the same time as the Saxon.
  12. Was it someone else,s project that you bought??,as it looks from the pictures that someone has made an attempt at restoration???.
  13. I wouldnt bother with biggin hill. A complete chav fest. You will spend most of the time pulling idiots of the vehicle. Plus your plonked all weekend long next to a Funfair. Imagine that all day long thumping in your ears. Not an enjoyable experiance. I stopped doing it a couple of years ago.
  14. WOW! Some nice pics there. A lot of stuff that you dont normally see down south. I like the ultra rare GKN Simba. Must be the only one in private hands. Like the Humber trucks as well. Thanks for the pics...
  15. I hope you havent bitten off more than you can chew(I doubt it) I look forward to seeing more pics of the on-going restorations...
  16. Well done Vince:thumbsup: Whats the plans with it???.
  17. I dont know why. But i always find that MV,s look better when potographed in inside hangers. Regarding the new hangers. Fairford has always been a FOB for the B52 and B1-Lancer and was used during previous gulf wars. Its also one of a selected few bases around the world that is used as an emergancy runway for the space shuttle should it run in to trouble.
  18. Some nice shots there. The plane you were on is a KC 135 Sratotanker. And from the tail-codes donates that it is a Mildenhall based aircraft. The F15E with the "LN" code is from the 48th FW from Lakenheath. Most U.S bases run quad bikes as part of the airforce police security detail. I think the most secure U.S installation ive been on is RAF Feltwell(Listening station) They want to know the ins and outs of a nats arse to get on there.
  19. I quite liked this Saxon rumbing around. Passed it a couple of times in the 101. Funny thing was. The noise from the 101 seemed to drown out the sound from the Saxon.
  20. I'm 1 1/2 miles from buckhouse,as the crow flys. I can see as far as Canary Wharf in east london right through to fulham. Its a little bit of a distance. But i can see the planes clearly. Some years ago there was a pageant held in Horseguards parade that replaced the Royal Tornament. It was on for a week. And every night the Red Arrows used to do there run in right over my house. Great stuff.
  21. I missed the rain. I left just after the cavalcade. If the southbound entry to the blackwall had been open, then i dont think it would have been as bad. B.t.w.I'm sure i saw John Blackman on the back of a truck taking pics during the cavalcade. Maybe some of us will appear in next months CMV...
