  1. One was white. The other two were silver. Went past this morning and there are 3 DAF,s left in the yard. Will go back later with a camera and take some pics.
  2. The last couple of days have seen a flurry of activity at my local T.A center. On tuesday around 20 Defenders. A mix of 90,s and 110,s. Two RB-44,s. Six DAF 4 Tonners and a couple of Bedford 4 Tonners were placed in the front yard with what looked like disposal stickers placed on the windscreens of every vehicle. Yesterday morning and this morning a fleet of low-lowders were lined up outside loading them up. Could this be a batch destined for Withams.???
  3. Tyre paint just reminds me of dodgy second hand car fronts, where it was applied to crap cars. Try and clean the side wall with autoglym rubber and vinyl cleaner. Then apply turttle wax wet/black or turtle wax nanotech tyre gel. This is what i use prior to entering a car in to a show.
  4. L reg is the cut-off. N reg is a vehicle registered 1975.
  5. If we are talking black and silver plates??. Then it is an offence to have them fitted on any vehicle registered after 1973. I have them fitted to the 101 and my 90 V8. I got mine from classic plates.Takes about four days.
  6. Similar in concept as the Tavern. But a slightly different ole. Is the Met,s Jankel tactical response vehicle thats used by C019.Based on the Ford F350. It comes in a shadeunder 7 tonnes........
  7. Its the same site they hold the weekly boot fairs during the summer.
  8. Hello Paul. It can be at first. But you soon get used to it. I run mine through the winter and do a few winter meets with it. And the screen is a godsend. The last trip out over the xmas period nearly resulted in my mate(commander) collapsing from the cold tearing in to him as we rolled down the M20. I was ok,as i had the screen fitted.
  9. You need to get a front screen for times like these.
  10. A couple of other raritys to remember The Esarco. I think CMV or MM did an aricle on it last month. And even rarer. The Glover Webb Tureag DPV. Apparently one was used on trial by the SAS during Granby. I have only seen a few pictures of one. But there is one in existance in the Cobham area.
  11. My father had one, that was ex- Forestry commision.
  12. There was a thread put up on here sometime ago by CW. He had loads of pics of some of the stuff that was in that yard. I dont know if the thread is in the archive,s somewhere. But it makes intresting viewing.
  13. You must have only been charged 5% import duty due to it being of historic importance. Thats been clamped down on now and to qualify for a lower rate it has to be classed as historic "race" car.
  14. It will cost roughly £700-£1500 to ship. that depends on if its containerised or RO-RO. Once landed you are then hit with 10% import duty on the purchase price of the vehicle. Then add 17.5% v.a.t. You will then have to have an SVA test if its a commercial. A lot cheaper than a IVA test on smaller car type stuff. One thing to remember is to make sure it has a clear "title" in the U.S. Other wise you wont be able to register it here.
  15. My other half is employed as a second driver for the 101 and the Jeep. She has no choice!
  16. Very nice:thumbsup: From that pic it looks mint.
  17. The best surplus shops i ever knew were Anscombe,s in London Road Elephant and Castle. Also they had a shop in Merton. But the cream had to be Quartermasters at the Angel. That place was a goldmine. I loved going there. Both now long gone.
  18. From the LtWt,s i had 12v G.S. Tool box in the wheel arch. None in the engine bay 24v FFR Tool box in the wheel arch and one in the engine bay.
