  1. I don't know what was worse. Your trip back with all the problems you incurred.Or the time spent in Antwerp. Dreadful place.
  2. How many from here going??. I would have taken a vehicle but i haven't booked in,and don't want to be turned away at the gate, so i will be going by car. It was a very good show last year when i took the Ferret. Looking forward to it.
  3. I think you will find most kids learn about modern warfare these days from playing the likes of "call of duty" on the x-box. Its not politically correct to teach the history of warfare and anything relating to the war, in schools today.
  4. Lets remember that this was initially a MV event and the living history came along a long time after. I think that Living History has intergrated itself well into the show, and is one of the main attractions of the whole week. To move it somewhere else would be a bad move. The only bad move this year was placing said dealer in the LH field. Must have been a good deal done before hand,as that is a prime spot.
  5. Nice pics. And the weather looks a lot better than when i went a couple of years ago. I will be picking the Ferret up this week from its Beltring bolt hole. Roll Headcorn and Mayhem.
  6. Sorry. My mistake. Both derived from the saunders- roe helicopter.Should have known better really. As the navy version had wheels and the army version had skids. Slightly different profiles as well. But very similar in appearance......
  7. Always loved the Westland Scout. It was even more impressive in the film "who dares wins" with fake SAS men hanging from them.
  8. Thanks for the pics. That Dingo looks interesting. Look like heavier duty wheels as well.
  9. We sold one for £130 in the living history field. Bought it from Anchor last year for considerably more.We simply didn't want to bring it back home with us. On a personnel level i bought... 1 Tin of paint for the Jeep £45 A battery for the Jeep £106 1 pair of woodland combat trousers £!2 1 pair of desert DPM trousers £7 1 normal pair of normal DPM trousers £7 1. Brake light switch for the Jeep £8 1. CWU flight jacket. To add to the other eight i have £50.
  10. Ive known MS for many years and wouldnt buy a tin of paint off him. Let alone a Fox. I heard it start one day. And it sounded rather roppy.
  11. For me it will be. Its a minter. And comes with a s**t load of spares.I dont need to bother about working on it. Because i wouldnt be. I pay a man to do that. And if it breaks at the side of the road i will have it recovered back to his place. I wouldnt have been interested normally. But its nice, and has enough spares to keep it on the road.
  12. No. Its too much hastle. But something with a Jaguar note to it.
  13. My cousin was on Fearless at the time. And they did unload LR,s with the bulk of the Marine force. If you go back over any of the documentarys of the conflict you can see plenty of LR,s in them. Including the 101 pictured in Stanley as the Marines and Para,s march in. There is even a 101 on a hillside in the falklands that was dropped in order for one of the few Chinooks to gain height over the otherside.
  14. Just side tracking slightly. But does anyone know if Withams sold there batch of RB44,s at W+P this year??. They were priced slightly cheaper than the one they brought last year.Didnt get round to seeing what they had left sunday night.
  15. Funny that. As i have actually seen pics of 101,s and LtWts pictured on the Island during the conflict. There is actually film footage of Bedfords and 109,s being brought ashore at San Carlos bay.
  16. Everything was taken down there. LtWts,109s, 101,s Ive seen quite a few pics of LandRovers on the Island during the confict. There is even a pic of a 101 in Stanley when UK forces took the argy surrender. A few Land Rovers went down with the Atlantic Conveyor along with all the Chinooks Sea Kings and stores.
  17. Lets clear up a few things here. And seperate RT from all of this.I was witness to the whole events when he flew in,and the conversation that followed with RT and the officials. It was quite clear that it was a surprise to RT as much as the officials by the actions of the pilot. In questioning Roger from RT over the entrance by the pilot he was cleary unaware that the pilot was going to fly in. And in his words." Some members of the group thought it was being trailered in" It also seems that from the radio chatter at the time, that the list of officials that were unaware of the"fly in" went back further back than those on the ground. At the end of the day the blame lays with the pilot. He made the decision to take off in to a crowded area. No one forced him with a stick. He made one attempt that was unsuccessful. And it should have been left at that. But he didnt and attempted a second try which you see in the video. So please lets take Rolling Thunder away from this. They have always been a very responsible group and formed the back bone of the living history displays for many years at War and Peace. And long may that continue.
  18. I think only a minority within RT knew what exactly was going on. Roger didnt. He made that clear when the officials questioned him. I didnt make a complaint. My brother did.
  19. As far as i'm aware the officials had no knowledge of him arriving in the way he did. And that was apparent when he landed. I was there the moment he came in. And none were to happy at what he had done. As has been said before. The plan seemed to be the trailer the helicopter in. But he decided to fly in. I must say the officials done a great job in calming down a very angry crowd after the incident and liased quickly with local police. There is video circulating somewhere of the whole incident. As i said before. This could have had very tragic consequences.
  20. Met a few of the HMVF regulars. Snapper,Griff66,Cripp and FV721 CVRW...
  21. Me and the family had a great week at Beltring. But it could have ended so badly. Whilst packing away last night. The pilot of the Bell who made a un-announced landing on wednesday decided to take off. He aborted a first attempt,as it was quite clear that there was insufficiant power to gain lift. What followed next was unbelievable, and how know one was decapitaited a miracle. He attemted a second dust off seconds after the aborted first. He managed to get enough lift to hop the Rolling Thunder entrance. Power was falling and he turned the craft 90 degrees and flew the lenth of road from the Rolling Thunder entrance to the lights at the entrance to Americas with the skids barely 2ft off the ground. My niece, brother and reinactors dived for cover as he tried to get airborne. How he never hit anyone was a miracle. I can honestly say i was waiting for it to come down in to everyone. That was the most stupid and most dangerous act i have ever seen at an event. The Police and officials were quickly on the scene. And it was quite evident that if he came back he would have been lynched.Hopefully the matter will soon be in the hands of the CAA and he will loose his licence. What a pratt.
  22. Still having a great time here. I think out of 22 years ive been doing this. This happens to be one of the best ones. And maybe adding a new armoured addition to the fleet soon.
  23. Dust, dust, and more dust. I wish they would throw some water down. Met Nick Johns and Topdog. Saw TTM and Lee last night as i was leaving in the Hummer.
