2. Where abouts in Standish r you from I have a friend who lives off Cranleigh near the golf course. The same golf course that I would like to drive over in the Ferret:nut: Whats this about sunny Standish every time I go near Standish it rains! Leaving Standish always brings out the sunny weather. R you sure that Standish isn't in Wales the same happens when I leave Wales the sun comes out. Must be me I have the touch Nice to have you on here another Northern is always welcome
3. I can't afford rivets bake beans cheap as a ... can of beans lol
4. Horns may look the same but placed directly side by side there maybe a difference in size. I bought a NOS stock horn of ebay went to fit it on the vehicle and found that it was smaller than the original. Works just fine but thats another story The part or parts that have been in use with the British Military that visually look the same and have interchangeable parts should be the definition of length of service. Off to count my beans now
5. What does the 'PLM' mount look like? Just in case anyone sees it
6. The first thing that struck me was that they were railway carriage windows. Maybe Scottish railway coach builders or bus bodies constructors would be the way forward to finding the history of the body.
7. Suspect a nice plastic beer crate could be used to increase the height. If you lift up the gearbox to the height that Jim has make sure that the ground underneath is solid concrete and not tarmac. The higher the lift the more unsafe it becomes with a heavy load.

Here you go Bagpuss should be able to sort it if he can stay awake long enough
9. No sweat Mr Grumpy here recommends buying at least 20 litres of SAE 30 which should be enough to change the oil in the Gearbox, Engine and the Air filter. If you look at the very bottom of this page you will find a diagram of what fluid goes where and how much fluid to use. http://www.ferret-fv701.co.uk/useful_info.htm
10. I saw an oil relief valve that looked very similar to a Ferrets bevel box type on a Universal carrier wheel suspension. So that would be WW2 all the way upto 1991ish. Shouldn't surprise really as a Ferret comes from 1940's technology.
11. The Sankey trailer that I bought off a forum member is exactly the same I've been stripping bits off it and I can't help scraping off the loose paint quite therapeutic. It was bought as spares donor for my other narrow track trailer but I realised that it was better than the one I was going to rebuild. Must do a blog thing ma jig on the trailer strip down.
12. Funnily enough I seem to remember being asked about this and I directed Vicente to Banisters or Marcus Glen for the fluid flywheel seal. The only thing that I couldn't find was the part number for the seal.
13. Its on Milweb as well just hadn't realised that it was one and the same vehicle. I can hear the ebay police screeching to a halt as I write this. Give it a few minutes / hours they will smash the listing down again.
14. Where is the Ferret? Always after bits
15. Does any of the newest kit have any of the items above? Is the above only still around because of the length of service / numbers built.
16. All the parts listed in some way relate to electrical items which you would think would have been the first thing to be phased out.
17. Jeep Jeeps Jeeps silly money for so little The investment types have been moving in for awhile hence the prices of MV's has remained steady or increased in this recession. Armoured vehicles have increased in price with possible the exception being 432's due to the MOD off loading vehicles.
18. Am I the only one who would like to drive a tracked vehicle across a gold course just for the fun of it
19. Hi Degsy, Suspect part of it relates to the country of origin of the part used. I think I am wright in saying that everything used in this country is **** 99 *** **** so on so forth. In my Ferret parts book it misses out the **** 99 and starts with 806 5596 (99 806 5596).
20. Thats whole different type of forum:D
21. What about the military style towing hitch? Just not sure who invented the type thats in use today
22. Early Austin Champs? Series 1 Land Rovers Late 432's?
23. With a bit of luck it should have attached a word file of a Bio machine
24. Sir Alec Issigonis of Mini fame had train tracks running out of his house around the garden and back. I remember seeing a program about his life and the production company revisiting his old house. Could be worse it could be a fully equipped dungeon that the estate agent has to sell.... thwack!
25. You really need to find out what seals have been used on the fuel side of things, if its the wrong type you can't use bio full stop. If you have the right seals 100% bio will work just fine 50/50 is just for the winter due to fuel waxing. I can't remember the name of the seal material at the moment that can be used with bio (it begins with the letter V)
