  1. Well, I never!! Just goes to show. Albeit pretty expensive as an experiment to see whether it actually works! Would love to try one though just thinking about all the time spent modifying spanners and sweating to tighten that nut or pipe hidden behind other stuff, virtually out of reach or sight!
  2. Thanks Lee, mail sent accompanied by a request.
  3. Paul, For me, Richard is the undisputed boffin with the vehicles as has just been displayed! Hopefully it is only something minor! Regarding uploading of the register, the upload limit is just under 400kB whereas the register is around 1,32MB. Sorry, so no upload there!
  4. Hi gents, I wanted to upload the register, but the file is much larger than the upload limit for the forum. Sorry, I will have to e-mail it to interested parties. It is nothing fancy though, just a list of numbers (known and unknown) hyperlinked to available photos. There are still lots of South African Saracen 88's out there, I will also log their numbers with pics as we go. Have yet to see one that is not a Saracen 88 in South Africa!
  5. Eish Paulo, you made me search high and low for those photos :??? but did find them eventually! Also while searching for your pics, I saw a post with a Microsoft Word attachment. I did not know that it could be done, so will post the (incomplete) register on the Saracen gallery thread. As to the brake bands, there are a couple of threads on here about it, otherwise you will have to wait for Richard to pick up on this (poor Richard, but I have yet to hear him complain!)
  6. MV's are a close second compared to aircraft (especially Airbus!) when it comes to space constraints. It always made me wish somebody would design an open-end ratchet spanner. Millions to be made there! Nobody mentioned screwdrivers?!
  7. Hi Tony, Welcome to the forum with the most info! For a minute there when you said 6x6, I thought you are referring to Saracen, Saladin, Stolly!!!:cool2::cool2::cool2: May you thoroughly enjoy your project!! And we want pics, pics, pics, pics!!
  8. Hi John, No problem, mate! Corrected to APC. The register carries other British vehicles as well, eg. Centurions, Ferrets, Bedfords, Land Rovers, etc. So, BIG gaps! The original list included all these, here is the thread. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?16817-Saracen-Build-up/page18
  9. Hi Rick, can you post a(some) pic for inclution in the register, please?
  10. Hi, very welcome! I hope you have got lots of pics. Have a look at this thread, http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?19375-Saracen-chassis-number...where-is-it.../page4 you will find some guidelines on the forum as well.
  11. Guys, guys!! I will have to consider immigrating!:cool2:
  12. Hi John, Thanks for pointing out the errors, it is now corrected. I can be a bit daft sometimes. I will repost the registry as it presently is, it's not much, just a list of numbers, owners and pics (those that I have). Regarding Saladins, I am only concentrating on Saracens now as I know precious little about the Saladins. Sorry.
  13. John, your battle is 90% won! The pics from the camera is too large to upload to the thread though, you need to reduce them in size to around 100-200kB each. There are a couple of ways to do that. I used to copy the pic and paste it on Powerpoint. Once you have sized it to the page, you simply save it to your selected folder in JPEG interchange format. This is the pics that you upload to the thread. I complained to the right person as to how cumbersome this method was and she suggested that I download a small and free Photo resize program "Visualizer Photo Resize". This really makes it simple. Once downloaded, you simply select the folder with photos to resize, click resize and the whole lot is resized and saved in a new Resized folder in the blink of an eye (depending on the amount of pics though) without affecting the original photos. You now select the photo upload button on the "Reply to thread", Select the folder from which to upload from your computor, (I select thumbnails to see which photos), select the photos and then select upload. It takes a while to upload onto the post and voila! I am not good at this but hopefully this helps, best of luck!

    Lady be Good

Hi guys, Am I going mad? I distinctly remember reading a thread in a similar (exact) vein some time ago (4, 5 months ago??) but I cant find it anywhere and this thread's dates don't add up. Maybe its just that I am a platinum blonde?
  15. Thanks for the photo Bob, that is how we find these gems before a lot of work goes into it and bringing (trying) them back to life!:-\ If they were in better conditions, they'd probably be out of reach of most pockets and not have the same value for the new owner. This photo (and others):cool2: can go a long way in helping with info. I am no boffin at all, Richard for one, can probably help with info. This is probably a reversed cooled Saracen by the looks of the vents on top of the nose, with the turret and two doors on it, later than the earlier three-doored ones. It appears to be a Mk 3 (Mk2 with RFC). I think I have displayed my ignorance here, so we learn. Do you have the User Handbook MKs 1-6 (1976 reprint), it would help a lot. There is a fair amount of model descriptions in there. This is how I found mine if it will help.
  16. Hi John, Any photos are welcome. It is actually quite easy to post the pics once they are on your computor. Can you get somebody to scan them in for you and then transfer the scanned pics to your computor? Then we will take it from there. The register was posted here, ( http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?16817-Saracen-Build-up/page24 ) I'm still busy updating, so little use to repost now. Once finished, I'll e-mail it to you if you want.
  17. Hi guys, I am updating a Saracen register and in the process of linking photos to the entries. I will place no limitation of use on the register and will be free to any interested person and be posted on HMVF as its property. Hopefully I am not breaking any rules, the moderators must please advise if I do. Saracen pictures, especially some pics from Foolshumor, John Pearson, Andyroo, Fasttrax, Berna2vm, Handler 69, Mwarrior, Val, are needed. I sure I have missed some other Saracen owners, it takes hard work picking owners up from the threads. Any other Saracen pics are welcomed, better yet if the numbers are visible readable, ChasSomT made a promise to yet make good on We already had a lot of great Saracen pics from Les Freathy and wishing for more. Come on please Les, add some more please? If at all possible, the names of owners can be included. Even just links to photos are welcomed.
  18. Hi Bob, Have you got any photos of your Saracen posted on any of these threads? I would appreciate one to include in the updated Saracen registry, which is still a long way from being finished and learning as I go.
  19. Hi Paulob, Have you posted photos of your Saracen on any of these threads by any chance? I would like to get hold of one to update the saracen registry please. I am adding pics and cross referencing to the info in the registry.
  20. Hi John, I am urgently searching for a photo of your Saracen, have you posted any, please? If not, please do so, I am updating the registration list with photos. Still have a long way to go but have to start somewhere. The other info you sent has has already been captured.
  21. Are you battling with uploading the pics? If so, make sure your photos are around 100kB in size.
  22. Hi m151tx, Haybaggerman had a similar question regarding Bren stowage brackets for a Ferret, have a look at this link. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?1805-interior-bren-gun-stowage-brackets-for-ferret&highlight=Bren+brackets
  23. Maybe something out of the ordinary?! Lots of options on this thread! http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?16817-Saracen-Build-up/page12
  24. I though only Saracens has this sort of gunk in it.:cool2: No magazines with rounds unfortunately. Somebody must have searched for that magazine high and low and probably tried all the fishing methods in the book!
  25. Cock-ups, maybe?! A trophy is a trophy, someone has to win it!
