  1. I reckon they would be open to offers and low ones at that
  2. as far as I know it's still on the iow and for sale for £75k which is a bargain
  3. no it was the unrestored one that went to the midlands.
  4. I also heard it was now in the midlands, glad it is finally undergoing a resto
  5. I also wondered if they would be desert colours from the factory but didn't know whether it was correct or not, I suppose we'll have to wait for Adrian to tell us rick
  6. hi mike nothing much happening with the old Churchill other than picking up bits and pieces where possible, the Cromwell and bren carrier are taking all my time at the mo but I look forward to the day I can start on it. thanks for the heads up on the Cromwell track I hadn't seen the ad before, funnily enough that is my old centaur track that kevin powles is selling on. might have to buy it off him as spares for mine rick
  7. got a bargain, I was expecting it to go for more but the new owner will have to use original parts where possible if he wants to get over the £1m mark and besides they say rose tinted glasses are essential when buying a project. I know of an idiot with a shot up old tank just as bad as that one which will be worth a fraction of the value of the panzer
  8. I thought it was very good. still going to shop at aldi though
  9. glad to hear it mate, I felt a bit guilty for not sorting it out for you before you picked it up but you'll be glad to know i'm over it now. :-D
  10. welcome to the forum mate did you have any luck with the fox charging fault  rick
  11. i know of a couple of available turrets in the uk that maybe for sale if anyone is interested.
  12. I don't know what happened to the Sherman but things were a little confusing down there because some vehicles belonged to dave Arnold, some to the iow museum, some to bovvy and a few to other private individuals so the whole thing became a bit of a giant cluster f@ck . I've heard various contradictory stories of ownership, which to be honest make me laugh at the duplicity involved in this hobby. someone should write a book about it one day anyway if I had to guess I would say the Sherman belonged to the museum but that's as much as I can say until I go down there which I need to do soon. rick
  13. nice tank, i'm jealous i'd like a valentine one day !
  14. hi kev dave told me it was going to derby but I haven't heard anything on the grapevine locally. it would be nice to meet the new owner i'm sure we could help him out immensely. rick
  15. looks like high pressure air cylinders used on thermal imaging kit, 3000 psi if memory serves me right. they are used to cool the sensor head to -200 deg or something like that
  16. charioteer went for 10k euro, which is a fair bit more than I thought it would as there's not much demand for shot up british tanks. probably bought for parts but still on the steep side ! rick
  17. just saw this charioteer as well for £3.5k https://huutokaupat.com/fi/v/98119
  18. lauren have you seen this site before http://www.wwiiequipment.com/pencalc/ quite interesting, how accurate it is I don't know but it gives a fair idea I suppose. I read an article about a captured tiger in Italy being dragged down to a beach and being used for gunnery practice with a 6pdr firing sabot and it penetrated the front at 800yards (not that surprising really when you think the armour was only 100mm). I put it into the gun vs armour calculator and it came up with something similar so it probably isn't too far out .
  19. welcome to the forum and good luck with the museum. I look forward to my first visit rick
  20. I think dieppe was the mission that put a bad spin on the Churchill but although the raid was a failure the tank performed well. out of 29 that were landed 15 managed to break into the town and cause havoc among the germans before returning to the beach to be re embarked but the ships didn't come back for them and eventually the crews ran out of ammo and surrendered. one thing to note was that no churchills were penetrated by the german guns but I must admit to being a bit of a Churchill fan so don't take my word for it buy the book rick
  21. i can't remember bob, did i borrow from you ?
  22. I have this booklet and it's very detailed, well worth picking one up on ebay if Churchill's are your thing. mk4 avre turret "fury" is the film you mention no doubt. there's a pic of it in a brick courtyard with a plate welded over the hole in the side but I don't know where it is maybe chatham ? rick
  23. and I thought I was the only one that did everything last minute
