  1. my Churchill wreck still has the oil coolers I will take a pic next time I'm down there and put it up for you. it begs the question though why do you need to see what they look like ? rick
  2. hi Derek glad you like the name, I actually preferred shufti cush but diplomacy got the better of me and seeing as how the tank might end up in a museum i thought it best to change the name I named the tank after AJAX which was a 1 RTR tank and part of the desert rats (my grandfather was a desert rat and so was I ) and although not a hussars tank I'm glad you put up the action report on how your grandfathers tank was knocked out, it made for a thought provoking read. please feel free to come over at YWE and say hello. all the best rick
  3. hi fellas thanks for the kind words, I'm heading off to Norfolk now to pick the Cromwell up for the desert rat memorial day in thetford on sunday and it might come straight back here to Manchester after or possibly back to the battlefront museum at old buck depending on the drivers hours but regardless of that it will be back in Manchester by the end of month :-D. rick
  4. i'll be there with the Cromwell converting pound notes into heat and noise
  5. having a pioneer to hand was definately a stroke of luck. hope you get her back on the road again for the xxx corps run. rick
  6. welcome to the carrier club there is no more fun or practical bit of tracked armour to own than a carrier. I've restored 2 and if I can help then please feel free to ask anything you want. good luck with the resto. rick
  7. glad it's sorted and your stress levels have returned to normal
  8. la crayon sur la table. that is the limit of my french but welcome to the forum anyway rick
  9. like pete said contaminated fuel seems likely and is easy to clarify with a bit of fresh chucked down the carb
  10. that's right john, he will cut me a deal on transporting the cromwell from thetford back to manchester on the 15th. just got to find the time to work on it ! rick
  11. sorry fella's i didn't even think of the wartime fox when i asked the question. it's the CVRW i was reffering too. Clive and Lee thank you very much for the diagrams and precis, absoloutely what i was hoping would come up. cheers rick
  12. hi guys i have a problem with a friends fox which is not charging and has no electrics other than ign and starter. my initial thoughts were a problem with a black box somewhere ie voltage regulator or such. so my question is does anyone have a wiring diagram or any advice as to what it could be. cheers rick
  13. thanks for the advice guys but i always use mind over matter. i don't mind and you don't matter. :-D seriously though it's possible, you just have to use your imagination as long as the gross train is within limits and the trailer is under 3.5 ton then you are ok, how you go about that is up to you, i removed the engine armour, batteries and anything else that was easily removeable and put it in the towing vehicle and it towed fine. we might have been over, we might have been under, i didn't go on a weigh bridge so can't say for sure but it felt good to me. how anyone else does it is their concern but you could buy a 4t daf and chuck it on the back, insurance for me was £130 and 19mpg makes for a good alternative . rick
  14. lol also known as the rick wedlock collection :-D unfortunately i'm not on facebook but i may have to join (too many forums is not good) rick
  15. all joking aside kev i did actually think it was my tank and that was down to your excellent free hand painting of the T number and name, please feel free to do the same again now i've changed the name to AJAX :-D
  16. lol when i first saw that pic of shufti cush i thought some cheeky german reenactor had climbed on mine at war and peace without asking, it then dawned on me that it was the real one. :red: still prefer the early 2 visor cupola though :-D took one of the rads to be repaired today, i'll let you know how we get on next week. rick
  17. tows very well with the rb44 although a little under powered on the hills. the pintle is very close to the rear axle so it's really solid with a trailer on. it's all a little academic for me as i will buy a TM calm when i can scratch up enough cash for one and with a gross train of 24 ton it should cover it rick
  18. lance the original eng temp and oil pressure are still in the tank but have not been looked at but will be before it goes to war and peace.
  19. degsy i went off the user handbook for the weight, before that i toyed with the idea of taking the tracks off and carrying them in the towing vehicle which is another option but a bit of a faff. you don't need rubber tracks to go on the road as the carrier tracks meet the requirements for road use but you are limited to 5mph (ish)
  20. doubt you could use much from the aec turret and trying to get one off the belgians is going to be tricky, let's see if we can't find an original and if not then we will fabricate one. how hard can it be rick
  21. i have trailered mine around on a 3.5 ton plant trailer, a carrier only weighs 3 ton so with a little modoification to the trailer you can tow it legally, i often use a freinds RB44 and it tows it easily. they are road legal and can be registered as such. in my opinion they are the most fun and practical tracked ww2 armour you can buy, (trouble is they seem to be getting more and more expensive). there is a very active group of like minded carrier owners in the uk and i'm sure you would not struggle to find what you need. good luck with the search rick
