restoration M10 restoration
Adrian Scott replied to Adrian Barrell's topic in Blogs of MV restorations
Ive decided to mark up the M10 in 7th Armoured Division markings , and give it the name "GHENT" , My father was in the 7th Royal Tank Regement in national service as a gunner in Comets and that was the name of his Tank , he passed away when i was just 17 so i thought it would be rather fitting . -
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post your photos , its sounds like you all had a very good weekend and the new venue is very good . P.S next stop war and peace

You are all corect , we were filming on the plains with the REME , as the saying goes its not what you know but who you know !!!! . The REME did the transport to keep the cost down for the film , a awsome bit of kit the MAN and trailer , it was as much fun loading the Sexton on Saturday afternoon and turning the rig around at my farm as it was on the film set !!!!

I took the opertunity to go up to Carls today for a visit as i was rained off from work , work is progressing very well and to a very high standard that im impressed with ,Carl is concetrating on the electrics and is having to make up all of the armoured conduet that the wiring runs through , the dash is also being wired up and installed , the battery kill switches have been installed along with the regulators , and Peter is working on the fuel system and mounting the filter heads etc and we have decided to use modern screw on fuel filters for ease of servicabilty ect long term , Adrian B has made up the splash plate that goes under the engine decks and that is to be fitted shortly once painted . -

I recon the petrol tank guys ort to consider buying a few shares in Shell !!! where as us Diesel powered Tankers should be a few pounds per mile cheaper to run !!!!! Bring it on Jack , if we are taking Tanks to Dorset , 2 days is far better than 1 , lets go for it . -

Tank graveyard par excellance!
Adrian Scott replied to Pzkpfw-e's topic in Archaeology - WW1 to the end of the cold war
Hi Eddy , In my limited experience of Tank restoration , buying the empty hull would be the cheap and easy bit !! ,then theres the export licence you would have to get ,(3 - 6 months ) the cost of the restoration and finding all the missing parts would be the hard part and a bottomless pit in terms of money , i dont think they would turn out to be very cheap at the end of the project . -

Unfortunately in stripping down the W L F we have not found any hidden gold bars as yet !!!! , i brought the truck from a good friend of mine and we had it on hire on a film set for a couple of months over the summer so its turned out to be a pretty good buy after the hire , have to say that the restorations have developed a bit more than planned but the finished truck should be good when finished . The picture below is the truck on set ! -
