  1. Its been a while since weve been able to give you a update , work has been progressing but with Xmas and all the illness bugs flying about i know its taken its toll ,as far as my involvement , ive managed to track down an electrical plug for the back of the dash board and some months ago Adrian B got 50 projectiles made for me , 10 HE and 40 AP ,we thought that would have been about the right numbers of each for a Tank Destroyer, ive been collecting 17 pounder brass cases for 2 years now and am about half way there , my paint sprayer mate has just finished painting them .( have tried to post pictures but the files are to big ,will take advice from a mate and resize and then post ) Adrian .
  2. Just thought i would post 3 pictures of the Ward as i brought it and before Mike started to take it to bits !!!

  4. With regard to the bloke in the funny hat ,that was "too many scammells John " , i must admit it did look like a dead fox on his head but it was cold so maybe it was okay just this once , out of intrest my lane is called Chilling street , and its bloody cold here at the moment .
  5. As it snowed here again and our lane had a good covering of the white stuff , i thought it was time to get the Sexton SPG out of the workshop and have a play ,after checking the engine oil and topping up the petrol this morning , she fired up first time ,a couple of good friends said they were up for the challenge this afternoon to help with the drive , we had a 4x4 infront with flashing light bar on it and Graham (trustmeimamachanic) as commander and me as driver for the first half and then John took over for the second half , both John and myself took and passed our H licence back in March at Tanksalot .We did about 5 miles around the lanes that surround my farm and as luck had it we didnt see any cars !!
  6. Hi Tony , Right machine for the conditions ,guess it handles well in the snow , out of intrest just wondered who surplied your stencils for your weasel , they looked prety good !!!!!!!!!!! , will need to talk to you in a couple of months as i going to get my Ward resprayed ,and will need a set for that . All the best Adrian
  7. Hi Jack , Like a racing car , only kidding , did a emergency stop down hill on the farm drive and both tracks and the front axle locked up and it went like a sledge ,but that was only me playing , it drove very well , felt safe and handled well , stopped and spoke to my neighbouring farmer and his wife , and he said he could feel the heat comming out from the engine onto the side of the road , i said what do you expect,it burns fuel at the rate of 3 mpg !!!!! , made then laugh .
  8. Its now raining here in West Sussex , not sure what is worst !!!!!
  9. It was a fantastic event Jack , well deserved coverage ,just roll on A+E 2012 , Adrian
  10. Hi Gavin , it looks fantastic , what a find , is that a track laying by the side of the lorry to wrap around the rear wheels to increase traction ?? would be ideal this weather !!, look forward to seeing the truck upclose soon ,congradulations again for a amazing find , Regards Adrian
  11. With regard to public liability insurance re the snow clearing that im doing at the moment , i allready have £10 million cover for the rest of my contracting activities ,and as for the fuel issue, well we have all got a living to make ! ,being mister nice guy all the time dosnt allways pay the bills , i think certain people need to live in the real world !!
  12. I dont agree with breaking the law and i used to run my Reo on Derv , as M G said the cost saving for the few miles that i did wasnt worth worrying about but i do have a big isue with alot of these threads and the debates that are had , it puts it all over the internet for ever , why not keep quiet ( my polite word ) and just get on with it , who knows what damage certain people do our hobby !!!!

  14. I took the oppertunity to take the Halftrack out this afternoon for a quick drive in the snow with one of my good friends Graham ( TRUSTMEIMAMACHANIC ) to a mates house for a cuppa about 2 1/2 miles away ,brought back memories of the Arrdennes offensive of 44 , god that was cold without a roof on , Adrian
  15. Thanks every one for your help , im going to check with one of my digger part suppliers if they can source the Shell aero oil for me ,its not going to be cheap by the sounds of it !!! , but then what in lifes is cheap these days !!! , a radial engine rebuild isnt either , Thanks again Adrian .
  16. This is the engine fitted in the Sexton , Does any one know what the correct engine oil /grade should be ?? Thanks Adrian
  17. I went down to Jim Clarks of Allied Forces Canvas on Sunday and collected a new bespoked canvas turret cover that Jim had made for me .I met Jim and Martin at Carls yarl recently for Jim to take accurate measurements of the turret and to confirm the design of the new cover , it looks super hes done a fantastic job of it , the photos of it on my floor dont do it justice really .Whilst i was down at Jims on Sunday he very kindly did some repairs to a couple of canvases of one of my mates and reroped a Ben-her canvas as well , He made me and my uncle very welcome with cups of tea ,toast and bacon and egg sandwichs,so thanks Jim for a good day and a fantastic canvas. Also Carl has had the proof house out today to check and inspect the deactivaction of the 17 pounder gun and the Sexton that he had done (to there specifaction ), they both passed , so the Sussex old Bill will be happy now !!!! , the engines were fitted last Friday ,Adrian B im sure will post those photos in due course , I think we have passed a major milestone with getting the engines fitted
  18. Not sure what to say in responce to all your good replys , yes the M10 is looking fantastic and i think will run and drive equally as well , the workmanship of Carl and Peter along with Adrian is second to none and i think they make a fantastic team ( maybe the A Team ) .Had a long chat today with Carl and he is hoping to install the power pack on Friday and has just finished deactivating the 17 pounder gun for me and the man from the proof house is booked to come on Monday to inspect the work . I tried to keep the gun live but Sussex police wernt having any of it so we had to go down the route of getting it deactivated !!
  19. Hi Eddie , thanks for your kind words ,the restoration is moving forward fast now after a lull during August , the high quality of workmanship is a credit to Carl and peter and not forgetting the fantastic steel fabricating that Adrian Barrell has done and is still doing .Adrian is at present making new header tanks for the cooling system and a new splash plate which is situated above the engines , under the decks . Carl is hoping to install the engines towards the end of this week once the new white paint has had time to harden off !!, so maybe in 2 - 3 weeks it may move under its own steam again , the first time for many years , keep your fingers crossed !!
