  1. Hi Eddy , its not quite as simple as that as the Detroit tank engines in a twin pack turn anti clockwise and normal 671 engines turn clockwise !! , its not going to be cheap at all but at least the engines will be fully rebuilt and upgraded and it should go very well .
  2. A quick update on progress , both the Detroit engines have now been stripped down and have been found to be incomplete , they are missing the liners and piston rings and oil pumps and alot of bolts in side were loose as if the engines have been thrown back together in a hurry , so what we thought was going to be a relatively easy job to get the engines running and back into engine bay has now all changed !! Carl and myself and Carls machanic Peter had a meeting at a Detroit engine specialist in Horsham West Sussex on fri morning to discuss options open to us in returning the engines to a usable state . I think at this moment we are considering up grading the engines to a more modern spec by using new 4 valve per cylinder heads and upgraded fuel pumps and injectors which should up the horse power to around 460 and make the engines run clean ,ie no smoke or a lot less than the original Detroits , but we are awaiting costings early next week so we will have to wait and see which path we follow . Adrian .
  3. Well hi there Mr Mechanic , Welcome to the forum , ive heard your pretty good with a hammer !!!! , who needs laptops with this green stuff anyway , im sure you will have great fun with your jeep , its no ordinary jeep is it , its a heavly armed assault weapon , All the best Adrian
  4. Thanks guys for your replys and yes Eddy im a happy bunny tonight !!!
  5. Ive Passed !!!!!!!!!! I took my H licence today at Tanks alot with a friend and we both passed . I would recommend going to Nicks for your test , he was very helpful and in between the 2 tests we had a little air show due to a Apache attack helicopter doing a little mock target practice on Nicks tanks ,Awesome , so if the M10 is finished in time ,see you on the roads at A and E in June .
  6. Hi Eddy , just had a look at the training manual , very informative if you want to shoot at some one or go on a parade !! they mentioned using signal flags in one of the chapters ,i managed to buy a set at Beltring last year for the M10 . Regards Adrian .
  7. Hello Luke , Its no big secret who the owner of the M10 is , im affraid its me ,ive owned it for well over a year now ,and as you know by this thread that Adrian is kindly posting, it is being fully restored for me by Carl Brown with all the heavy type steel fabrication work being under taken by Adrian Barrell, i hope every body agrees what a excellent job that they are doing and we are hoping with crossed fingers that it will be ready to take to A and E in June . In answer to your question Luke regarding tracks , it comes on good rubber block track and i have also managed to buy a set of NOS / referbished Canadian dry pin metal tracks as well . I know that the CDP tracks are not technically correct for the M10 , but my thoughts were that a new set of CDP tracks are better long term than perhaps a old or worn out set of "Sherman" metal tracks at this time with spares getting ever harder and harder to find. We will post more photos as we get them from Carl , but i think the photos are fairly upto date with the work at the moment . Hope that answers a couple of questions , Regards Adrian Scott
  8. Adrian , Its very intresting to see your photographs of the new oil tanks that you made for the M10 ,because you never see any of the internals once they are welded shut , you just dont realise whats involved at times in these restorations ,
  9. Jack , what width is the bridge ? The M10 is about 10 ft wide , about 2 ft wider than a sherman !!
  10. Hi Guys , Ive been reading most of the replys regarding the W and P show and the gripes that some people have with it , most of it i guess is true in one form or another , ive been attending the show as an exhibitor with a vehicle for about 6-7 years now and enjoy it more now than ever and look forward to it every year .It is the main event in the year that i attend with my vehicles and thoughly enjoy it and I like most off you attend with friends , there are 6 main friends that form the back bone of the Beltring gang , over the years we together have slowly brought communial items , cookers , dinning tents and a general store tent , the toilets at the show i agree are awful , so for the last 3 years we hire one of the square plastic porta loos from a local supplier , now i think it costs us about £60 cash for the week ,bewteen the 6 guys ,its not alot of money ,and it keeps the women folk happy as well ,its worth £60 just for that ,and this last year we clubbed together and now have a gas powered shower thats fantastic , so i surposed what im trying to say is that as a group of friends we have over come the two main gripes that we had with the show and i surpose it comes down to the blunt fact that is if you dont like it then dont go , its your choice !! no one makes you go . After all of that i would like to wish you all a very happy New Year ,Adrian
  11. Ive got some of my spares for my M35 from Rod at Marltrac in the UK or from a company in Europe called Reomie , you would have to google them to get there details , but they were very helpful as well .

  16. Hi guys , Need to sort out taking my H licence over the winter months ready for next show season , any ideas on the best way forward ? have been told that you can pay and go and do a course some where or that me and some mates could employ a tester to come to us and test us locally in a friends 432 , whats the best way forward do you think ?
