  1. Bidding on a toolbox on Ebay as I don't want to ship all my tools to UK when I work on the truck in June. Toolbox is in Cheshire and my truck is in Cambridge So figuring ideas on what to do if I win it....... bidding is the easy part
  2. I am going to most likely ship this over with some parts for my truck around June. My truck is around Cambridge
  3. I kinda thought that it definitely impedes visibility and adds a lot of extra height. I guess that it is a need due to IED's can flip it over the important bits are: - We need the demo picture so we can put in the upside down tank thread - When we going to see one restored at War and piece with a roll bar on it The Safety Device guys are really nice and efficient to deal with and they have a very good track record
  4. I got sent this in an email today and thought it was rather interesting http://interface.envirosend.co.uk/t/ViewEmail/r/B73C081F9D1BD558/F45B82C7289514EDDBC23BD704D2542D I like this comment "More exciting than the challenge of completing the design was to watch the physical test when our ROPS on a fully loaded CVR(T) was dropped on its roof - the concrete came off worst."
  5. Would this be a standard gun NATO style gun mount? http://www.leboncoin.fr/collection/442751343.htm?ca=16_s Seems the fellow is chasing one to complete his vehicle. Seems to of been fitted to VLRA and P4's etc so was curious if French specific or a NATO item.
  6. Nice picture If it was the present day it would be on the front page of the Newspaper "Soldiers in Tank get Drunk and Drive it!!!! or some other made up story
  7. That's good to know as I am not too familiar with UK rules, lucky I looked into this thread Is there an email address to contact dvla at as vehicle arrives on the 16th in Cambridge, hopefully with the new V5?
  8. fesm is a very old nickname from highschool. ndt is part of my job Easy to remember so used it originally for yahoo email then on several forums
  9. oh yes I had the same annoying problem but only on my pc, not my laptop. I was suffering in silence Praise to AA:D:-D:nut:
  10. I have to check the Acmat when it turns up as the PO could not find the V5 and a new one is enroute from DVLA so I cant check it until I have that. Was thinking of taxing to have a final play around in the UK but not really worth the extra cash expediture, mind you when is war and peace?
  11. They got their moneys worth out of those tyres. Amazing nowdays you have to be concerned about the date tyres are made as the die very quickly I guess same can be said for a lot of things, windscreen wiper blades is another item that seems to get changed a lot more than when I was younger.
  12. I posted several piccies of NOS smaller ones in here earlier. In Malaysia and sea freight is not a huge cost. Most the time it is cheaper than land transport charges in the UK
  13. I was looking at that Shiply site last night and it seems very effective
  14. Managed to get the correct antenna from Israel and is enroute to the UK. Found a site that shows you how to tune the base to civilian UHF bands Lots of discussions going on with a second hand dealer in France.
  15. just was talking to Nigel yesterday. I have to get up your way next trip. Nice work.... looks great so far
  16. Cheers, for the shovel info as makes life easier knowing I can buy a Land Rover kit . These are apparently standard ww2 design. If fitted below the RHD the corners are re-shaped it seems for a better fit (I will fit elsewhere) The antenna base is I believe a standard MX-6707 Tunable HF Antenna Base that was the mainstay of American radio systems for years. I havent got a closer picture as yet as it is in the post to Cambridge.
  17. Ok late night questions that have popped into my mind With these pioneer racks I guess the axe is normal size. What about the shovel and pick, would these be standard Land Rover sized? Anyone know the thread size and height of the AMX antenna matching unit? I want to get an adaptor made up for it for a uhf antenna.
  18. As not too many pictures around I figured out which one is which as there is a couple of different bits on this one that led me to the CHAD one. Yep my need to get and wish list so far is: 1. - Rear canvas hoops 2. - Rear roll bar 3. - Rear roll bar (prefer the type above and am currently scouring French junkyards. Most likely easier to find a UK fab shop) 4. - Spare wheel mount (RHS) 5. - Front bumper toolbox 6. - Spare wheel mount (RHS - prefer swing type if can get – I was told Acmat make a swing type) This is a wishlist 7. - PSP mounts and PSP 8. - front lights (later model again from French Junkyards) This is a wishlist 9. - external air filter and hose 10 - towing shackles x 4 11. - Wheel nuts x 5 12. - Rear canvas 13. - wheel rim x 1 I hate lists they always get longer I'll try. I got sunburnt at legoland over the weekend, if that helps
  19. the news has has just been updated to state "a replica of the Mark 26 Spitfire" When the news first came up they was saying it was one of the two only ww2 airworthy Spitfires based out of NSW. I guess they made an error and have been corrected. Still not good news
  20. Not good news http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/pilot-killed-in-spitfire-plane-crash-at-salisbury-in-adelaides-northern-suburbs/story-e6frfkp9-1226599160065
  21. I can't wait to get to the UK to do the prep and paintjob but until I find the few missing bits and be scheduled for a work trip I will have to admire it via emails. Be spring so the weather will be pleasant instead of the smoldering heat out here (just spent a day out here sweating on my Ural). Also will have to find someone around Cambridge area that can make up a fairly decent replica of this rollcage
  22. A few more piccies as waiting on it to be moved to a workshop close by Cambridge The 120L water tank The doors, left and right are completely different dimensions
  23. Very nice. Amazing how beefy the axle is. What was/is the weight rating?
  24. still a lot there, I thought China had made a deal to buy as scrap
