  1. One of the boxes which took a few months to negotiate. However it raises concerns as the PSP doesn't look like the French style but it's already enroute :-X I might have to post in the wanted section for French PSP
  2. sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh I tell the missus it's all valuable collectable stuff Not sure if she believes me sometimes :-\
  3. One of the best Land Rovers :-D Ask away, I miss mine and welcome
  4. Well 2 pallets of parts should arrive from France this week. Only parts outstanding that I know of I need are: - front seats (if I get I need to buy before I paint as the seat bases need to be modded and reinforced) - apparently there is a brake upgrade kit also still dreaming of a VCT cab (which would delay everything)
  5. When did these get phased out ie did they have a long service?
  6. Could it be knocking due to unleaded fuel? As differing temperatures can make this problem come and go. Also sometimes if you time per the manual, which was for leaded fuel it is slightly different for unleaded. Anyway I hope it is something easy like that, but if it's knocking, losing power sounds like maybe this. As if knocking mechanically normally things break and you have metal flying around, oil leaks etc
  7. They finally started selling stuff http://www.graysonline.com/promotions/military
  8. I was thinking the same thing, ie how many of these still exist and which don't and why...... I can't recall seeing one of these before, is it still around?
  9. post some piccies of this gadget, please I got a Ural so I am intriqued by your contraption. The problem is most bikes are far wider than the truck
  10. Never can shy away from talking about needing new balls found this mob http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/search?query=ball Maybe these guys also as I am not sure on your required ball size http://www.classiccarexchange.co.uk/left-self-aligning-door-hinges-p-468.html
  11. Over in Istanbul so I need to catch up with my mechanic and sweet talk him into having another look. I should be posting in the "spotted today" thread as loads of armoured crowd control vehicles parked and on the big bridge I saw around 30 Army Unimogs. But I am not too keen on taking any photos as I do want to risk being crowd controlled
  12. Go figure.... opposite  My poor mate has been out wire brushing this are the last 2 weekends....... he's going to scream. PS how many digits am I looking for?
  13. When I got the V5 the chassis number and engine number are the same. As the V5 was a new one as the PO had lost the old one I had hoped it was a recent mistake and that DVLA would be able to look at the previous record. This was naïve of me as it seems I got fat chance of that. So have been trying to find the correct chassis number with no luck thus far. It is supposed to be located as per the white box below on the LHS are on the RHS a bit further forward. A lot of them have ID plates on the outside of the cab, but no luck on that one also......... so having a dummy spit at present
  14. What is H91 KMJ? A prison truck? Good thread..... came in to see photos which are great, with an impromtu discussion on safety.
  15. I thought it was going to be a picture of my Land Rover rebuild..............
  16. Yes most the history of Acmat is supposedly an upgrade of the Dodge platform. What I find interesting about the VCT they are still rated to carry 6 tonnes, so although it looks like a big car, it is a truck. I guess the Dodge are around the same
  17. I wanted to buy a VCT rear body, as I heard Acmat had a few used ones and when I added up the cost of parts above I figured why not. Unfortunately I could never get a price out of Acmat :-(, would of been nice for War and Peace and with the top down traversing Australia
  18. As there is not a lot of Acmat info around at the moment I thought I would post some pictures of some of the different bits I have tracked down to fit to mine (with various notes to suppliers). Basically bits to make the vehicle safer, more useable or bling I have purchased this type of short PSP. The French PSP has small holes drilled instead of full holes in places. The front bracket on this style will not fit on the Irish tray as the tray sides are lower with the canvas subsequently being fitted lower also. So I will need to fit 4 cone seats which are held on by wheel nuts and experiment a bit so the canvas still fits ok. I managed to get the under spare wheel step. I figured this would be useful to help get the wheel up when needed. The larger front lights off the 'slightly' later model as being larger they will be more visible Wing mounted aircleaner which is better suited for dusty environments 'aka' Australia.
  19. I thought I might be there by then but time flies way to fast now, plus buying all the missing and or desirable bits has put a dent in my budget. Would have been sweet to do War and Peace. But so far still organising parts and haven't started on the mechanicals at all yet.
  20. yep very nice. I seen the vehicles before as not much info out there but the rebuild photos are very useful for me as I have to plan everything in advance. Is that your winch handles beside the seat? My rear tailgate latch bits that are welded to the tray uprights are missing and havent seen anything similar on Ebay as yet, so still looking. Bought a new heater last night, so moving along. I nearly forgot, I am guessing there is no reverse lights?
  21. Many hands plus a sand blaster (I may have to see if anyone is around Duxford that can give it a blast. yep I can see my 2 week trip to the UK to prep and paint mine to be a hard slog. Just writing a list for my mechanic so he can start of finding/fixing the problems. What seats you got in the front and do they have lap belts fitted? I like where the pioneer toolkit is mounted, from other pictures on Facebook
  22. sounds like a happy marriage
