1. I was just supposed to be giving it a sand and a dab of paint as the mechanicals will be done after I paint it. I wasn't expecting so much body filler in the wing though, so my guess there will be several very long days. The RH wing, with rusty bondo filled lip, the layers of paint and started on the modification for the slightly later model lights (wanted these as easier to see). The LH wing is 10kg heavier with the amount of bog in it....... :wow:. Really going to waste some time. Good news today was that my mate here who can also weld said the intake area is not so problematic... Bad news today, when I pulled the spare out of the tray the side-wall is split open
2. Should be great. I found that box yesterday and the box of new cables from France to fit it. Hopefully will start attacking it with a grinder today as Monday to Thursday I have work meetings and then after that I have 2 1/2 weeks to finish the rust repairs and paint. Quite surprised how thin the skin is
3. My excess baggage Found these in the glove box
4. Well arrived in UK at 7am and Cambridge around 10, so went and spent a few hours acquainting myself with the Acmat I bought in April. Finally found the chassis number, just needs a bit better clean tomorrow. Starting ripping bits off and found layers of white and also some desert paint. The intake pipe is rotten which is going to be an annoying repair. Both wings need coming off as both are full of bondo filler. A job I could have done without with the limited time. The firewall has been butchered where the weird heater of unknown origin was installed These are the new marker and indicator lights Seems I have been sent the wrong front toolbox Still got loads of stuff to sort though in the rear
5. Well just about to go to the airport and find out tomorrow what I have let myself in for :undecided: Also to see if I get stung for excess baggage
6. yeah the grass cutter guy donged it on the head. I would have run screaming, like a girl in the other direction :red: we had a nest of them the other year and found baby ones in the dunny, which I have never used since.
7. cheers, 1 done, 5 to go
8. ok so it just pops out....... didn't want to break it as the prices for these are often......................... highish
9. Ok this is a daft question, but I got a handful of new mod lights. How does the light fitting come out of the middle of it? I didn't want to start off with a screwdriver prising it out when it might be held in by something...
10. Hopefully in the UK mid October to prep and paint the Acmat. At least I wont have to deal with this type of annoyance that we got at the yard again over here.....
11. running a search they made ambulance boxes for Austin K2's among other things would the lights be off an Austin?
12. My trip has been delayed but looks like a definite for October. If I can fit this in with my stuff I'll lug it over. I have a handful of Red lucas twist glass lights, a few map lights and small red glass dome lights. Just in case anyone is looking for some.
13. has that round upright cylinder got a brass plate on it? got me intrigued what it is
14. Saw it on some site that was selling some. I wish I would of known about these earlier as would have been a perfect vehicle , with that cab on the back for my cross Aussie trip that I am now rushing to complete my Acmat for. I am now curious what would be involved in making it RHD, but I guess if there is a civi variant it would be fairly straight forward
15. Welcome...... that is a nice looking truck just looking apparently were made LHD and RHD...... very nice
16. I believe Tengah field is still operational with the SAF. Oddly enough I saw a jeep in a yard up here and it has a brass plate on it to say it was refurbed by RAF Singapore
17. yes very interesting..... also the way the next of kin was to be quiet about it maybe as it was the beginning of the war they were more secretive of letting bad news out........
18. I am not really a Jeep expert, I just like the puzzle I am sure a Jeep guy will come along and post some comments
19. missed this thread before and just read it from the start really nice job !!!
20. Ok just read your profile,,,,, Argentina. That would be a long way from home, would make an interesting story What would be the closest UK former military installations, possibly RAF?
21. Ok without being cynical It must be fairly oldish as when I was in China recently almost everything was electric and much more classy Saw very few petrol or gas run bikes as I believe a clampdown on trying to curb the massive pollution problems. With the electric ones they must have to recharge a lot as they beep their horns constantly
22. that would be appreciated as I will make the caps here and lug to the UK. I am hoping the uprights are standard RHS box with the only odd bits being the latch 'thing' and cap. 0910 with a hangover, wondering if I should bother with work or just sit here and read hmvf ...... ahhh better go or the world will end if not (well that's what the bosses tell me!!)
23. I saw the same thing......... kept thinking it was a trick question
