  1. If you've been going so long, why are you still paying? If you've been a member of IMPS for more than 2 years you can book vehicles in free and get 2 passes per vehicle. (just checked details and updated my post!)
  2. We'll be there, Sabre booked on to the low loader. You get sent vehicle passes in the mail (ours are here already) and you have to sign for the wrist bands at the booking in tent.
  3. Those light towers are a much later fitting, I have the mod instruction somewhere and I'm sure they were only fitted to British vehicles in the 70s. Any ideas how they ended up on your vehicle?
  4. The brake bands just control which set of epicyclic gears are engaged, so I would have thought it would still allow the wheels to turn. Usually when you leave a vehicle in gear you are relying on the weight/momentum of the vehicle not being enough to turn the engine over. With the fluid flywheel, the flywheel needs to be turning quickly in order to have any effect on the engine.
  5. I would try the Tank Museum Library first.

As for the spares, I have some brake pads and filters. The wheels/idlers are common with CVRT... pretty much everything else is different though, even the track. They do look and sound good though........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oRwuJHu79M&feature=channel

Yes, I'd love one, but they are MASSIVE and 'overwidth' ....

All vehicles are cast when they are sent for disposal. Those with cast painted on them probably had it done to prevent people from using them while waiting for back loading to Withams.
  9. Fairly easy. I expect you'd need to spend around £800 for good used, maybe up to £1500 for new. Are you looking for some? Send me a PM.
  10. Matt, I doubt you'd find it by rubbing down. It was lightly etched on to the hull, as in a slightly different apperance in the metal, not painted. When needle gunning the hull the paint is chipped of and so the number underneath was not damaged. I think it must have been done when it was rebuilt in 1972. On top of the bare metal was primer, gloss green and then nato green. Chris
  11. Matt, Mine also had that sticker above the speedo, and spent its whole life (near enough) in storage in Germany. Have you tried needle gunning the hull above the front hatch? Mine had the registration number etched on the hull there, also also on the rear of the hull under the rear armour. Chris
  12. You need LV3JG/5365-99-815-6966 (plug) and LV9CVW/2520-99-829-5393 (washer) Chris
  13. I have seen several Saracen Mk 5 ACVs with turrets which were direct from the MoD. Just because you didn't see them in service, didn't mean they weren't there!
  14. I saw it the same week on the A46 around Newark, on the same trailer. Looks like it went on a holiday for the weekend?
  15. Those mounts are used on loads of vehicles, CVR(T) Sultan for example. See attached photos of my old 432 and Sultan cupolas. Chris
  16. I'm pretty sure 09 EA 28 was/is a 432.

They have swapped the Challenger Recovery Vehicles over to Challenger 2 track, so that's probably why there is some surplus around.
  18. Lee, There is an adaptor which accepts a spin on oil filter. We have just got one for the MW, I will find some details. Chris
  19. No, LH tiller applies RH steering brake and vice versa. I know it's not what you think, but trust me it's all to do with the differential arrangement in the gearbox. I will post a diagram tonight.
