  1. Rob, FYI photo 1 is a CET not a CVR(T). Chris
  2. Hi Monty, I have some videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/sirhc05 Chris
  3. Sounds like the starter motor is stuck, a common problem on FV432s. Bob is correct, it's a pack out job to fix it.
  4. Not the best photo, but you get the idea..
  5. I live near to Chetwynd Barracks, formerly known as MoD Chilwell. I remember when a Challenger 1 fell off a trailer into someones garden a few years back.
  6. Andy, I've played this game too. They always try and sell you the the most expensive stuff. Tell them what it's for, that it's not a classic car and that you want the cheapest they can offer. The cheapest is good enough for spraying an MV! 5 litres shouldn't cost more than about £40. Chris
  7. Don't use the paint from Anchor. I sprayed the Spartan with it as I decided to do it on a weekend and Anchor is only down the road. The paint from Anchor is awful, it absorbs water and fades quickly. Your best bet is to find a local paint supplier, try yell.com and get a batch made to order... It only takes about an hour. If you want it delivered I have used Crosbie Coatings in Birmingham before and the paint and the service are both good. Cromadex also offer a good service, but I really struggled to get the matt paint from them to be anything other than gloss! Chris
  8. The desert sand colour is BS381C shade 361, Light Stone.
  9. I have seen 3 different Marks of Wide Track: Mk 1 - drum brakes, front stand, no jockey wheel and no fog lights, 6.50 tyres. I had one of these, it was a GT, older than the Lightweight I towed it with. Mk 2 - drum brakes, jockey wheel and fog lights, 6.50 tyres. Mk 3 - disc brakes, 7.50 tyres, correct designation FV2381. I have one of these I tow with the Wolf.
  10. Phil, They were made by numberous different manufacturers, Sankey is just one of the companies who made them. There are slight differences but they are essentially the same. Chris
  11. I have seen blank Saracen data plates, I think Marcus Glenn had some.
  12. Mark, Send me an email to chris@sirhc.co.uk and I'll dig out some photos of how to replace them. I only have bands for one side, but can't remember which. I'll check and get back to you. Chris
  13. Yes there have been photos of it in the magazines before, it's an Abbot without a gun.
  14. Finally got round to putting this together........ Something went wrong...
  15. That's not a Foden, this is: http://www.mod-sales.com/direct/vehicle/,31,/28632/Foden.htm I was looking at these at Withams. They had a long line of them with prices on the front, cheapest I was was £37000, most expensive was £60000.
  16. Mark, I'd take the wheels off to do the brakes, but you'll need a hand as they are heavy. Headlamp bulbs are hard to find, and expensive. Hopefully its something simple like the switch or fuse? Chris
  17. My Ferret bit me once, I was sitting on the drivers hatch in the arena at Beltring facing backwards. I had my hand on one of the side hatches when it slammed shut. It caught the tip of 2 fingers on my right hand, luckily it didn't cut them off. The pain was terrible, and it didn't help that it was the Sunday and I had to drive all the way home afterwards
  18. Same again this year please Lee ...they are booked on the low loader again.
  19. Stone, There's nothing too complex about driving a CVR(T), and once you get used to it a 432 feels clunky and slow. Chris
  20. Mark, If you're dropping the engine oil, you might as well stick a new filter in there. At least you know it's been done. http://www.ekmpowershop5.com/ekmps/shops/greenmachines/cvrtcvrw-oil-filter-1383-p.asp Chris
  21. Mark, Once you have the covers off have a good look at the condition of the hand brake bands. One problem with them is that they can get contaminated up any oil or which might be floating around in the hull and then fall to pieces. To replace them you have to take the output flanges off the bevel boxes. I've done this job, and have some spare bands too if you need any help. Chris
  22. Hi Lucy, Looks like an Alvis Tactica with bigger wheels to me. Perhaps it's a later version. I have the Tactica manuals, which for a military vehicle are quite poor. I can tell you it has a Perkins 180Ti but other than how to use it and a lubrication diagram that's about it. Chris
  23. Hopefully Clive will see this. He had photos of several green/sand Saladins in a dealers yard a long time ago. Andy in Derby also has a Saladin which was green/sand with arabic markings, who may be able to help. Chris
  24. Plenty of Foxes in GM. I've also seen Spartans with GS numbers.
  25. The letters depend on when the contract was placed, and different combinations for different types of vehicle. The Samsons are mostly GM, there were also some Foxes in GM.
