  1. Sounds interesting, do you know her year of manufacture yet?
  2. I have in my possession an original Kodak negative book that was passed down from my Grandfather. The book is dated 1915 and the photos are in and around St Omer. In the most part the photos show the daily routines of soldiers, bridge building, trench digging and at rest. There are though a couple of photos that show vehicles and horse driven gun carriages. For starters can we identify the truck below? Kevin.
  3. If its for sale, does the Vendor have much history about it that he can tell you?
  4. Not your Commer two-stroke hooked up to it then?
  5. Looks like very good work to me, we have a 3D printer at work and they are very handy for homework!
  6. Not planning a rescue are you?
  7. I wonder if any of these survive? Kevin
  8. I recall seeing one of the Crossleys in unrestored condition last year at the Dig for Victory show near Bristol.
  9. Having worked in Engineering for over 20 years now there are signs that younger people are taking more of an interest. The Apprentice scheme is certainly having an effect with the company that I work for. I also notice that on the show scene there is quite a healthy mix of both younger Girls and Boys joining their parents with vehicles, a lot of youngsters are involved with Steamers too.
  10. That does make very much sense. I note that our county museum in Taunton has the Somerset Light Infantry museum incorporated and they have an awful lot of Medals. I presume that most of them are on loan. Kevin
  11. Also, over time the original loanee may have moved or passed on etc? I wonder if the museum cant trace a loanee do they then make the decision to hold it ir sell it?
  12. So what would have happened to all the smaller artefacts then? Into other collections? Surely they couldn't have been sold off without the loanee consent etc?
  13. We visit Jersey as a family most summers and have done for the last 20 odd years, we very much like it. The last few years we have been thinking more about splitting the visit to Jersey and Guernsey so I think we will plan to do that in 2021. Liberation Day in Guernsey sounds very good, I have watched some videos before but they dont really capture how big it is. Kevin
  14. So does Jersey have as large a Military vehicle parade? We know from our visits to Jersey in the past that Liberation Day is a huge celebration there. Kevin
  15. Interesting websites, I do recall reading before that Chamberlain used a Hillman 80 as his transport with Churchill prefering the Humber.
  16. In my possession I have a pack of WW1 original Kodak negatives that were found in a case many years ago by my Grandfather. Most pictures are of soldiers carrying out daily routines but there are some that show vehicles. I will find them out this afternoon and start scanning them and post them here. Kevin
  17. I like a bit of window shopping😉
  18. Looking to expand the collection?
  19. Did you sign the petition? There are a lot of people showing an interest in doing it. I signed it.
  20. It should get the 'Dunkirk 1940' brass plaque, I wonder if they get it presented upon completion of the restoration. I recall there is a nice group for the Little Ships and the website is quite informative.
  21. Thank you for the clarification.
  22. I did wonder about lead loading due to the heat involved. Never tried it myself but have watched some good tutorials on Youtube. Kevin.
