  1. Do you show at the WW1 section at Dorset?
  2. You never know what still survives, if someone knows you are looking it might throw up some leads. Kevin
  3. Its good to get the word out what you are looking for in as many useful places like the forum. You never know what one person may have tucked away or whether someone could give you a lead to investigate. Kevin
  4. Not really coming across Riker trucks before I have just had a search round on the net. I notice a few mentions of Locomobile trucks on the Automobile of America club, with a few pics too. It really does look like a rare make of truck, with only a few survivors. Kevin
  5. How much of your Riker is left? Enough to work from or just some bits and pieces? Kevin
  6. Welcome to the forum. So how much of the Riker do you have left? Sounds like a really interesting vehicle. Kevin.
  7. If you want it refurbed Classic Spares down in Kenton, Devon would probably do it. We have had spares for Clayton Dewandre servos from them before and they offer an exchange service. Kevin
  8. I did see that one Richard, lovely little truck and like you say very rare.
  9. I have done a bit of digging and have found a photo of it, its a postwar Q4 like you say. The photo is on flickr and it looks like its just left out to pasture. Thanks for the thought.
  10. Do you know what type and sort of age? Was it for sale from their collection or private?
  11. Yes, I have seen a couple of 1950's Q4's for sale recently, I am still after the elusive wartime Q2 / Q4 etc
  12. Bumping my wanted ad up again for any wartime Commer / Hillman vehicles languishing away needing restoration?? Have had a couple of post-war leads now but nothing wartime.
  13. I do feel quite privileged to own the vehicles that I have, I enjoy preserving things for the next generation. Part of that ownership is enlightening the next generation in the whys, whats and whens of these vehicles. To see my youngest want to help out and to see his knowledge of the vehicles grow and be able to explain to others at shows is lovely, he's only 8 years old. My main thought though on this thread is for the vehicles that are kept hidden away, rotting away in many cases without a hope of being preserved. We are custodians, we are those folk as restorers who have the skills and knowledge to bring these vehicles back to life to be able to tell their stories.
  14. Now that looks like one hell of a truck for the period, doesnt the cab look tiny in comparison to the bonnet and wheels?
  15. I agree, the thread is an interesting one and should be continued. The vehicles may not all be military but I presume they were also seconded?
  16. Thats really interesting, especially about the petroleum workers being drafted in with no training etc. Kevin.
  17. So is that a rope or hose that the chap is holding?
  18. Good plan, when investing this sort of money and time you need to do your research first. Kevin.
  19. These are the ones I saw. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bedford-Green-Goddes-CHOICE-OF-X2-FOR-SALE/254632436613?hash=item3b4946a385:g:pXAAAOSwNZNeyXGZ Kevin
  20. What about this? https://www.milweb.net/webvert/a4743/98668 Kevin
  21. Hi, what body does it have and do you have the original engine? Kevin.
  22. I have seen restored ones on Milweb but can't say I have seen ones to restore, I presume like you say it would have to be through a dealer.
  23. I recall seeing a listing on ebay for a choice of 2 for sale, a Green one and a Red one. Both requiring a bit of work but iirc they were about £3k each. I shall have a look for the listing.
