  1. This is what is so good about a forum, the advice and leads is worth its weight in gold as they say!
  2. I saw this advertised recently when looking through carandclassic. Some interesting lots.
  3. Would be interested to know which sealant you go for and how effective it is. Its good that the repairs will be facing the chassis. Kevin
  4. It looks superb in my opinion. You are certainly getting plenty of work in during lockdown. Kevin
  5. Just thought I would bump this one up, still on the look out Commer/ Hillman etc. Interestingly I was chatting to a chap recently who has a 1939 Commer Superpoise tipper tucked away in a barn, its a civilian truck but imagine the work it would have done throughout the war. Kevin.
  6. Similar to the utility but whereas this grill mesh is 'square' pattern I recall the utility being made up of 'diamond' pattern. Kevin
  7. All these lovely pics are really making me think about what respray we should give our 47 Minx. I have put off her external 'refit' for a number of years now, all the usual, door bottoms bubbling, rust flecks here and there so she needs a respray. She was painted grey before I bought her 15 years back but originally she was black which can be seen if you take the door cards off. Kevin
  8. Nice picture, I havent seen one before with a full roundel painted on the roof. Kevin.
  9. Yes, the filler cap really does look the part. Kevin
  10. Its seems all the more a shame it wasnt able to be saved all those years ago. I have been looking at the photos I have of it back in 2014 and although she was rough then she certainly wasnt as rotten as she is now.
  11. That would make sense. Its strange that in the Commer books that I have there is no mention at all of the Beetle when talking about war production.
  12. What a rare piece of kit. Go very careful freeing parts off. I like your plan of oiling it over a period of time. Kevin.
  13. Any idea why Commer withdrew? Was it a War Office decision or Commer's decision?
  14. Its so often the case that we know about vehicles yet its so hard to get hold of an owner or even talk to them. Agreed it needs to be saved, would love to have a go restoring it but just cant see it going our way.
  15. Such a nice vehicle and ideal project. I fear though it wont be heading down to Somerset with me.😞
  16. The Austin wins no prizes for its looks!
  17. My Grandfather drove both Dodge and Chevrolet vehicles in North Africa, he always had a soft spot for them after.
  18. Very nice, I know one survives but I would still love to find one.
  19. Never seen one actually marked as 'Chaplain' before.
  20. The logistics involved in the build of something this size and this complicated must be huge. Imagine how many miles of electrical cabling she must have too!
  21. This is just the type of MV project that we would like to start from. Our interest is in saving and preserving. Like I said, I was first told about this Guy many years back and also tried to find out its availabilty but with no success. I would love to preserve it.
