  1. http://imcdb.org/vehicle_18147-Austin-Mini-Moke-1965.html Also made a Bond appearance, if I was a villain I wouldn't be seen dead in such a machine
  2. Never seen the book but the Peak turret is a smaller, for a GPMG only. If I remember correctly at a paintball ground near us they had one in Berlin camo with the same turret, not sure if that was historically accurate of course
  3. http://www.afvsociety.co.uk/services.html Details on that page
  4. Timbo has pretty much covered everything and Chris has a valid point too. It is worth checking the condition of the roadwheels/sprockets etc and indeed the wear on the track pads. As the pads cannot be replaced separately like a 432 you have to replace the whole track, so this can be fairly costly too, although replacement track is still available. Not particularly related to the Spartan but don't rush at the first vehicle you find, the right one will turn up. You will find yourself here all too often though :-D ^
  5. Thanks! That is indeed who we sold it to, the movie prop company. If you look in the back of a few scenes of Flags of Our Fathers you can see it I'll have a look at that issue!
  6. Thanks for that chaps, to be honest I think that body looks quite effective. I'm really surprised she wasn't broke up for spares because although the body/cab was in absolutely perfect condition, the engine and transmission components were getting pretty tired. It was a French one and then subsequently had 8 owners in civilian hands, even before we owned her she'd been on the show circuit for many years. Still, good to see she's still chugging about, even if in a different guise
  7. Found it! Bit of a difference but still nice to see her preserved
  8. What a beastly machine, one day I hope to get down to Slab and have a look at it and your other kit in action
  9. I believe we sold one of our GMCs to him a few years ago for Flags of our Fathers, the name definitely rings a bell
  10. Well done chaps, I was shocked when I saw inside the timing case but it's amazing what a little time-consuming wire brushing can do. Some time ago I started with a rough axle and after a good pressure wash, degrease, layer upon layer of paint stripper and endless wire brushing, I got the finish looking like glass. I'm sure you people will go way beyond that :-D
  11. Very nice vehicles there Ray, if they'd sat on our farm for that long you'd have to dig the dust off of them with a shovel first :-D
  12. That looks a really great project Chris, nicely done, welcome to the forum
  13. He must have made an attempt to install that new fangled 'like' button
  14. Can't be many genuine Mk 2/2 Ferrets left, or any of the later Mks for that matter
  15. That beast is looking seriously mean, one day I'll have to come down to Slab for a look
  16. I'm really looking forward to seeing this restoration come together, if it's even half as good as the Dennis blog I'll be glued to the screen! Best of luck to you chaps, it seems you aren't hanging about as it is! Regards, Lewis
  17. Great stuff Rich, I am still trying to find the time to come up and help out! Work is properly busy at the moment so I'm working 7 days a week to get things finished, I will give you a buzz when things go a bit quiet so I can come up and lend a hand. Regards, Lewis
  18. Thanks for the info chaps, a very impressive project and a huge undertaking, it is great to see such attention to detail being paid to every respect of the vehicle. I wonder how it will drive when completely finished? It would be good to see it in the flesh at W&P at some point
  19. Hi, Our Ferret is 33BA64 so very close to yours, if my memory serves me correctly one of the forum members used to be an ex-crewman on your very Ferret. Regards, Lewis
  20. Wow! What engine does that beast use, surely not a proper Maybach?
  21. It was a great weekend and thankfully the weather sort of held out! I'll post up a few pics soon
  22. It is a great site, I've spent many hours on there in the past. I sent them some pictures of Beacon Hill Fort in Harwich but nothing's appeared on the site yet :undecided:
