  1. I am tying to make direct contact with Jack. If anyone knows him could they please ask him to email me Many thanks R
  2. We have had a bit of a go around in the final lap of registering the vehicle in my name and as a result it has taken some time but finally this week I have completed the paperwork that the Ministry of Transport required. All utter b/s but you have to do what government wants. Finally an ownership and paid up plates for the truck. Insurance for the year 180 dollars. At last R
  3. I am convinced that the issue is very simple. I recall a whack whack sound after doing a track job only to find that the tea break had caused the broken process curse to appear in the form of a pin walking inwards as the nut had not been put on in the sectional build up. Doh! Luckily that was caught before only pride was injured. Await further news R
  4. I get frustrated easily, pictures would help here. The drive sprockets can be swapped around to wear on the other side. It is a fairly common practice that if you change the track then the sprocket likely should be changed also, this applies to bulldozers and other things that crawl that I work with. R
  5. Welcome Rob, I'm sure you have lots to share with us Robin
  6. Mick, we could really use some pictures so we can help you R
  7. Dear Jack, I have dealt with Withams for many years. Withams do not offer any kind of warranty nor do they offer or will they get a vehicle MOT'd. You are buying "as is where is, no warranty implied or expressed". If you dont have the money to fix a truck then buy one at a higher price with a warranty or an MOT. That is my first advice. Buyer beware. Soft tops are nicer as they allow you to roll up the canvas but hard tops have more security. I guess I am dating myself now when I say the Tithonus hard tops and what is required to swap around is beyond my knowledge these days. Others will know. The 2.5 na diesel is no speed demon nor will it ever be. A Tdi with power steering is well worth the money. Robin
  8. Dear Mick, Are you getting the same sound on both sides? I agree with Richard about it not laying flat and it should curl up naturally. You say you suspect that you have a track pin in wrong, I find that hard to imagine but the truth can be stranger than fiction. Where in relation to front and back do you split the track and what tools do you use? Has all of the drive train ie road wheels etc been maintained recently? How are you measuring track tension? Don't be obsessed by the number of links, track tension adjusted properly is more important. The CVR(T) has a "slap" to the undrside of the sponson that is possibly what you are hearing dependant on terrain conditions. Some photos would be worth taking and posting up. Robin
  9. Dear Howard, dont worry about the way the pictures came out, great to see how the project has been tackled, I got a few ideas from that. The chassis came out real nice, amazing what a good clean and paint will do. Have you seen the video of the AFS exercise held at an RAF camp, long video it was. I found it again, here is the link R
  10. The interesting point of this video for me is to watch just how much flex and slack develops in a track and where the slack moves to. Thanks R
  11. Great stuff, thank you for posting. R
  12. Dear Petrov, Welcome to the forum, we love hearing tales from folks like yourself who actually did things with the vehicles we now are custodians of. The WASP i'm not it immediately familiar with which vehicle you are referring to but I think it was a Carlos Fandango souped up CVR(T), was it by chance the yellow greenhouse version? We all love pictures I have plenty of boxes to sit on and listen to your exploits R
  13. How many do we know in private hands that are reasonably complete? Perhaps we could have a picture or two of them as people add them with their VRN somewhere as well? R
  14. Those of us outside the UK cant view this, is there another source R
  15. Have your friend email me directly as soon as possible. The collection is not open to the public can be made made open for people who ask, like you. We are on the east side (right side of the map). Please ask your friend to include dates and where he or she is visiting in case we are not close. R
  16. please email me from here I have some bits R
  17. Chopa, from what I recall I think they were the mounting platform for smoke grenade dischargers R
  18. yep, checked, relatives from UK in town, am a bit tied up, will text soon R
  19. "our friend" is the new to him owner of 05 CC 29 which work sold to him, infact my old FSC. I did a proving drive with the new owner on the Thursday and took final payment. On the Monday he went into the shed and discovered the problem. It is a used vehicle with no warranty, just trying to help the chaps out. I have relatives over from the UK and we are making going over to the vehicle a part of their holiday tommorow, my sister's boyfriend is a gearhead type and MV curious. We will report back what we find out, would love to know a bit more solid info before we go. R
  20. Rick. My most sincere congratulations on getting it home. You might as well delete the now superfluous duplicate thread. Check ALL fluids and presume nothing. Try not to make the newbie CVR(T) brake fluid mistake. Assume nothing and check everything. Good luck Robin
  21. Terry, any chance you can do a separate thread on the seal job you have just done? Thanks R
