  2. Sorry I have not replyed. I did not look properly on the new forum. I have also been repairing my storage boxes after an attack by thieves. Ravenscar Vickers Vigor was used in a salvage operation and ran a bearing due to shortage of oil if I remember correctly.
  3. With a PSV operators licence 10.2 tonnes GVW. I think the answer is yes if over 7.5 tonnes
  4. I used to have pos and neg molds then using a jump lead and a carbon rod melt some lead making a new post. Using power from the battery
  5. Take it slowly, it will all come back to you. There are people on this forum with large generators probably the same as yours they just need time to see your thread. Have you any photos of the beast?
  6. Welcome in. Dreaming does not cost anything.
  7. AC or DC output, may just need the brushes freeing. Do the slip rings or the comutator need cleaning. Does it have a small exciter generator?
  8. I only used to get to Salkelds Quarry at Rowley in those days. There was a one half way down the cliff at Ravenscar years ago. Either Vince Mangam or Bill Shaw had one in his garden, that was Ex Army.
  9. I doubt it was military, It would have had more add on bits. I have not driven one with a front mounted winch. All of the ones I have driven had rear mounted winches, both for operating the blade, and scraper. Also the towing winch. Considering it was built in the 1950s I think it has survived well.
  10. I was not aware of the one on the a 68. I have not purchased one I am just looking for parts for a friend. I knew Carter White ran some on an opencast at Toft Hill. Walton and Mconnell had some at Stanley.
  11. Perhaps one of vehicles lurking in the background in the first picture.
  12. That last picture is perculiar its of a different vehicle.
  13. I can confirm that the one on ebay was sold and delivered. It is going onto a Bedford restoration project
  14. Thank you for posting pictures. I am amazed at its condition.
  15. Get to the page with HMVF on the top left and you should see a row of options underneath, then just go to browse forum or one of the others. If you move the page up on the right will come up the recent posts in any of the areas. Good luck.
  16. Looking for some track plates for a Vickers Vigor any condition.
  17. An Aircraft carrier the Campania used in the Festival of Britain was scrapped about a half mile from where I live. Also several Cruisers and Destroyers met there end at Battleship wharf as well. Before it closed some Russian Naval vessels including Submarines were scrapped there.
  18. I find magnets are usefull when setting pieces in place for welding.
  19. Glad to see you back, you have been missed. Thanks for all the hard work in the changover. Good luck with the new site.
  20. Some of the people who say Britain is dead should be made to read this Forum. There is also a geography lesson seeing where in the world overseas members ply their trade as fastidious dedecated restorers. Turning out imaculate work. Inovation making tools and then making complex parts to infinate tolerences. Succeeding against the odds, Producing high quallity work, with in most cases minimal equipment. It is a pleasant education to read these posts.
  21. Watching a vehicle come back to life is fasinating. No 2000 tonne presses then. You have mastered many trades to perfection.
