  1. I worked with a driver years ago called Dougie Dean when he drove a Cat977, which I disliked as the crowd worked back to front. when I last heard of him he was driving a Lima 2400, He was quick and smooth. I only moved 19RB and 22RBs They always seemed to want to fall backwards with just a short jib for transporting.
  2. I used to work with a driver who did agency work for a company with green trucks, based in H.Le.Spring. They kept old trucks.
  3. I am probably wrong but do these vehicles and owners reside in Durham?
  4. A good dragline operator is an artist with rhythm
  5. High Detergent oils are usually for Diesel engines. Put them in petrols if you want to clean them out. If it is only a top up the detergent will be well disipated in the sump oil. They should mix no problem as long as one is not synthetic
  6. Many years ago I went to collect a Cat D8 from a quarry during the winter. I had to get from where it was parked along then uphill around the side of the quarry to get to the Low Loader. As I walked to the machine the mud sticking to my boots was making me taller. All I can say is the antics to get up the hill must have looked hilarious, sliding back down with the tracks going forward going around in a circle ending up pointing the wrong way. When I eventualy made it digging the tracks out before loading. Of coarse there was an audience in the crusher house. Some days!
  7. A wonderfull project to be involved with. Good luck on your journey.
  8. Vehicle Width and Brakes will become an issue for road registering
  9. Once the treads fill with sticky mud you are driving on slicks
  10. At least they are joining something, a few will get the bug or finance and move to bigger things.
  11. Welcome. Your English is better than my Italian would be, so do not worry about it.
  12. Makes sense to keep the weight down when the Stolly goes swimming
  13. If it had been perfect to start with, There would have been nothing to improve, If the people have the confidence to go again next year I have no doubt it will be better. If people gave up on their restoration the first time something broke or a hand got in the way of a hammer, we would not have a show. There is probably a faceless burocrat somewhere who came up with the numbers, or a contractor who did not supply on the day/week what was asked for. It does sound as if the people and the vehicles were worth going to see though. For people like me who cannot afford to travel that far, even though there was a degree of difficulty for those who went, selfishly are there any more pictures.
  14. Did the show have any redeeming features?
  15. That has the wow factor. I still find it amazing that someone who had never seen a Merlin engine got 10% more power out of it by looking at drawings and measurements. Then came Mrs Shilling.
  16. In N/Yorks. Black close coupled 4 axle rigid on low loader with TARMAC accross the tail board. Possibly Sentinal. Just below Angle of the North South Bound, on the side of the road Poss W/Jeep and trailer. I was heading in the opposite direction. With a poorly Audi on the trailer.
  17. Welcome. Just looking to see if they have sunk any more inverted mushrooms of Blyth. 2 down 3 to go
  18. A very interesting potted history with photographs.
  19. A Conductress Ducks for short in Newcastle and if they had to change over or the catynery came off the line, they were out the back lightening quick with their pole and away you went again.
