  1. I knew an awful lot of the history of the aircraft and it only needed the APU and 2 RB199s and it would have run, it was stored in a GAS for 12 years and had no corrosion. Space was the issue though, that and pulling the wing pins.
  2. Some AFV periscopes and other sight stuff https://www.i-bidder.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/timed/witham/catalogue-id-witham10029
  3. Peter Laidler (retired) from the SASC at Warminster bought one of the recovery tanks on a sealed bid about 20 years ago. Came with a full tank of fuel which was worth more than he paid.
  4. Will you be able to run her? I sold a Tornado GR1 a few years ago, it only went for £10,000 they're just to difficult to strip.
  5. And if you need any free labour to just dig, make brews or simply look good for the cameras let me know. Apparently I'll do anything for chocolate, or so the grafiti on the toilet walls at Echo dispersal RAF Akratiri says.
  6. Well we've got Spitfire Ale, Lancaster Bomber and Bombadier, does this mean we will have bottles of 2017 vintage "Tank" wine?
  7. Have you read this thread? http://www.gunstar.co.uk/bsa-smle-no-1-mk3-bolt-action-303-rifles/rifles/898503?utm_source=emailWebsite&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=search_alerts&utm_term=_&email_stats_id=2285589 as far as I'm aware it's not law yet but is about to so get an older spec now while you can.
  8. It will be the 5 hub to wheel holes. The split rim holes can't elongate (unless some one has been really stupid) as there are shaped areas to lock the 2 halfs together.
  9. You may have to be more specific as Pintle refers to a lot of different mounts. The basic pintle is the small piece that bolts to the .50 M2 or the .30 1917 to 1919 series (and M60). Then there's the 1917A1 mount usually seen on the 1917a1 tripod but is also fitted to the pedestal mount and with a different attachment spigot fitted to Halftracks and Tanks (Stuart?). Then there's the 30/50 cradle mount for the M31 or the M23 etc. take a look here http://www.bmgparts.com/mount.html
  10. Why are things so complcated!!! and then they'll expect the Police to understand and enforce it.
  11. And DIY Military vehicle SOS 40 minute make over was born.
  12. Some Good news at last. It hopefully means my collection isn't worth zero! In fact it may increase in value now.
  13. To mount to what? Or do you mean the M2 tripod, tons of them about!
  14. I hope no one tries to jump in and take over Rick. There are people out there who like to take over others work for the glory.
  15. Try ringing the various counties departments. You may find one helpful department ringing your guy may just sort it all out.
  16. These are the 2 in question. All I'll say is, don't believe the markings, and buyer beware. http://www.battleflagmilitaria.co.uk/shop.php
  17. I had a look at these on the Joes Motor Pool stand at Stoneleigh and I was very impressed with the look and Quality. I think the average jeep fan like me wouldn't know the difference and only the real die hard jeep fan would know. I can't say how well it performs but on the owners Facebook page he does show the pre production item running flawlessly. I'm considering buying one as a spare to take on long journeys just in case.
  18. Thats where things get interesting. If it is an inert example like the Russian AKs that Russ militaristia sold then I think they are classed as inert replicas and therefor fall under the term realistic firearm and be covered by the VCR bill.
  19. I hope you have deep pockets and do your research. There are Supposedly GPMGs out there complete with poor markings but they are in fact Indian FN, US M240, scrap L7 & 8 parts and mixtures of everything else. In the time I've been looking I think ive seen 2 true British GPMG.
  20. It it looks like your almost right. It's a large punt gun and the trigger is wired to the signal arm so the driver can fire it with little movement of his hands. Ideal for those road blocks manned by the Germans impersonating MPs.
  21. I'm sure at the same time he said it was a stolley he also said which film it was built for. It may have been one of the Alien films.
  22. It sounds like the FEO isn't against the idea, he just wants to make further enquiries which is fair enough. You may find it beneficial to do some of the leg work yourself. Ring a few other counties and ask how they approach the matter and you can politely inform him of what you find. He could quite possibly to busy to bother reasearching himself so if you can provide him with details of another authority then you've made it easy for him.
  23. A colleague of mine had his stolen a few years back, he got replacements easily enough from the medal office but they wanted to charge him rediculous fee. The boss emailed them and said they were stolen but they said it wasn't a valid reason according to the JSP. My colleague read the JSP and could find no table of reasons so forced their hand and received them for free.
  24. Dont quote me on this as I'm a GPW guy but I think the tub number is different to the frame number but the number on the ID plate I think is the chassis number and not the body number.
  25. Just be aware that about 2 years ago a batch of replica Welrods were made and sold as deacts. Can't remember who made them but they were very very accurate reproductions with an aged look.
