Bodger Baz Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Just got back tonight, a 700 odd mile round trip in two jeeps, in every possible type of weather possible BUT............. it was well worth the effort, absolutely amazing, huge respect to the organisers, Armour owners and the Town of Mons for the huge effort. Here are some snaps to wet your appetite, more to follow and some film work of our jeep chasing a Sexton through the woods! we couldn't keep up! The sunday road trip was just out of this world! Shermans, Hellcats, Sexton, an M10 along with half tracks, M8's, scout cars, Diamond T's and so on taking over the loacal area and a 9 mile off road drive, fantastic! Will be heading over again in a couple of years. G506 and R Cubed should have some more input. Baz Quote
Jack Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Stunning stuff Bazz and no one wants to ask how good it was .. Seriously looks amazing and how many Shermans were there? Quote
Bodger Baz Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 i think there were 7 shermans in all (it was like trying to count fish!, they didn't keep still very long!), got a great picture of 5 shermans parked in a line, Lovely! i was even more impressed with the 20 or so half track! 4 of them with the anti aircraft turrets. Bodger Baz Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) and again The bridge in the background of the Jeeps pictures was the location of the first VC to be awarded in the First World War, the second was awarded just 500 metres further down the river at the next bridge.
