john fox Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) don't blame me if this is old news but a friend of mine has just told me that when he tried to renew his insurance policy today with Roadsure (including the recovery policy) he was told they had gone bust and a new company is dealing with existing policy holders. Thankfully the "new" lot are happy to continue to do renewals including the recovery option however the database for the recovery policy is separate to the vehicle policy which may explain why so many people have been having problems with getting recovery cover recently, my friend had to tell them his recovery policy had expired as they could not see that Edited June 23, 2008 by john fox Quote
Eugene Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I renewed my insurance (no recovery policy) with them over the 'phone just a few days ago. No mention of anything different -same insurer, KGM. The renewal letter (dated 17th June 2008) had "Roadsure" as the header. -Roger. Quote

Lord Burley Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I paid for the recovery when i renewed. But when the docs came, there was no mention or paper work indicating so.A further few phone calls gave me the nessasary docs i needed, including a breakdown card. Quote
REME 245 Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I asked Roadsure today if their MV recovery policy could include a modern beavertail truck owned solely for the purpose of transporting a MV. Their reply was no and the cheapest policy they could offer was £1,000 per annum. Can anyone recommend any other options? Quote
Lord Burley Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Whats going on there??.Are our existing policys above board??. Quote
ArtistsRifles Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 This gets more and more interesting!!! Do the new owners of the company actually know what they are doing/what they've gotten into by taking RoadSure over?? I begin to suspect not & that was just another bean counting exercise n the part of the new bunch thats about to misfire. Badly!! Quote
REME 245 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I assume no one has any other suggestions on recovery polices. Interestingly for the cost of my Carrier renewal my friend is getting his Carrier plus two other vehicles insured. The only advantage with Roadsure seems to be you are still covered for any other driver with your permission. Quote
john fox Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 The only advantage with Roadsure seems to be you are still covered for any other driver with your permission. only if you expressly request this - mine is a named driver (me!) only - I used to have anydriver over 25 but one time at renewal they said that would now cost extra so I dropped it. I have always assumed since then that any other driver with your permission is an extra cost but have never actually asked for quotes with or without that cover. Being cynical I assume if i did ask they would naturally quote higher anyway Quote

Can anyone recommend any other options? roadsure specialise in the weird and wonderful, I have the two militarys a modified Range Rover, and a modified Land rover with them. When it came to the Volvo thier advice was forget it, we don't deal in the ordinary, any quote would be massive. Quote
Papav66 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 My breakdown renewal just came through ok from Premium Choice for £59.00 & think its well worth it. Quote
