0 david052
And people think we are sad? Rather like Biro , the term has become generic, I don't think you can sue in that case. Wasn't the trademark 'Nivea' taken in War reparations and only recently returned to the original owners? Anyway, I seem to recall reading, probably in After The Battle, that when the Allies first came cross the jerrycan in North Africa they decided to copy it. Presses were made in the US and shipped over. The vessel was sunk in the Channel but the cargo was deemed so crucial divers were sent down to recover the presses so that production could proceed. 0 Tony B
One of those links has an identical can to mine valued at $135 :schocked: I think the one I've got was dug out of the back of a barn. I have 3 at 1944, and 1 at 1945. All used for show although the 1945 can be used in emergency.

0 Enigma
OK, Jerrycans. I've got a collection of German ones, 1 is on the Command. Watch out when buying a SS can, remade in the original factory... Recognisable by a little flower stamped in the lid - FAKE can on the right... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a264/T214/waffensskanister3linksisechtrechtsi.jpg[/img] Lots of versions. Wehrmacht stamped, also seen HEER. WANT ONE!! Without markings, markings on front of the handle in raised or recessed lettering. Early Germans don't have the rectangle in the middle. I got a very rare one. German/English model, US marked, dated 1945, Made in Charleroi, Belgium...

0 abn deuce
a few more Jerry Cans , I seem to find loads of British or German Jerry Cans and few of American cans , except for the Vintage video moves where they use only American cans ? understandable since the movies were training films and would want everything to be U.S.Army issue. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff35/abndeuce/373589100_c1d0af125c-1.jpg[/img] French caption Depuis des camions de carburant, des hommes remplissent des jerrycans vers Port-en-Bessin

0 N.O.S.
Not so fast, they may have been pulled out of a load in favour of the far superior British pattern  Note also the abandoned jimmy side panels!
