robin craig Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 (edited) Would you be able to post some pictures as that always helps. The data plate also would be something that if shown would start to unravel what it is Edited July 18, 2023 by robin craig Quote
ruxy Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 It will be a COUNTY 4x4 conversion of a Ford Transit (Ambi. conversion). Done by COUNTY - who converted Ford tractors to 4x4. Quote
wally dugan Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 These where popular with utility companies gas and electric Quote
Hair Bear Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 From scratchy memory, np208 transfer case, Dana 44 front axle, freewheeling hubs, with other beef-up mods as well - I believe similar to the Bronco of the time. Had the original blue dropside demonstrator here for a while, really looked the part. Quote
robin craig Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 This thread deserves pictures of the vehicle for the rest of us Quote
norseman 02 Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Essex police had them back in the early 'nineties. One turned up at an off-road event for the crew to check that our club had a legal right to be on the land. We encouraged the copper to 'have a go' at the least challenging section of the course set out for the Land Rovers. It didn't end well, the Transit proved poorly suited for the task & the driver suitably embarrassed by having to be towed back to firm ground whilst we stood around making various hand gestures ! To be fair I guess the AWD conversion is simply intended to provide additional traction in adverse road conditions. Quote
